A respectable total like 250-270 would be nice. Hope they keep going and stave off a humiliation with the nation's eyes on the sport after the England game.

They'd need excess of 300 to challenge this Indian batting line up later on and the pressure of that is going to be at the back of their minds.

I'm still pessimistic but cautiously hopeful.

I am predicting 250. But it all depends on how they do next 15 overs.

Looking like it, don't think, alas, that'll pose to much of a difficulty for India.

Indians can be unpredictable - they crashed out of world cup after losing to Bangladesh not too long ago! Fingers crossed they fall apart today, they will still get into Super Eights, so will Ireland. Chances are slim though..!

    Come On!!!

i'm not a cricket person so......

what would be a good result for ireland, to get within how many runs??

Just an aside. Maybe this quote from the National Archives will explain how Ireland have done well so quickly?

If the GAA was eventually to prosper in Dublin, cricket was moving from being one of the most prominent games in Dublin to being a minority interest. Cricket had been played in Dublin as early as 1792, and in the mid-nineteenth century it was the most important game in city. It had, by now, been surpassed by other sports and cricket became a game largely (though far from exclusively) confined to the wealthier Dublin suburbs.

If we got that would be a great score. I think 200+ is a great score against India in India.

A good result for Ireland would be around 270. Even if they lose (which I'm still sure they will) it won't be by a hefty margin and that will help their chances of qualification if England and Ireland both lose to West Indies and Ireland beat Netherlands while England beat Bangladesh.

    Ireland HAVE to beat Netherlands.

If they also beat WI or India they are guaranteed to go through. More realistic is to hope that England continue to get owned by WI. Of course Bangladesh are also in the equation if they beat england, but their heavy destruction by WI almost rules them out.

I think 250 is certainly possible. And I think Ireland would give India a run for their money too. That's my prediction - but lets not forget cricket is a game where anything can happen... If Ireland can do 111/5 to 329 against England, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! :D

Think you are forgetting that England have a point extra from the tied game with India.

White, KOB - both silly dismissals. They know they have 15 odd overs to play, and should have just hung around support Potterfield. Ah well. 200 would be good now. May be 220 if someone plays well. 250 if someone does another KOB act.
