If they do consider Peter Reilly as a possible manager, hopefully he can control his temper. His antics on the field after the Dublin U21 game weren't great to see, it was a poor performance by the Ref but no way for a manager to react.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,100 ✭✭✭Akabusi

Was in Breffni last night, poor enough quality but a good close game. Mullahoran would have been out of sight if Enda O Reilly hadn't gone off injured. They missed three handy frees. Kingscourt were poor enough. Barry Tully and Toastie were the only two that looked up for that game. The referee was also very poor. I thought the Kingscourt goal was a square ball and Keith Mc Cabe was very lucky not to have been sent off

I was behind the goals for the Kingscourt goal.It wasn't a square ball as you can enter the square after the ball was last kicked. I would however fell the goalkeeper was fouled and it should have been a free out. The referee did consult with his umpire.

Yeah Keith McCabe should have walked. Thought the keeper was fouled as well but fair result in the end.

Club championship starts in Breffni on Friday night with Kingscourt v Mullahoran in the first preliminary.

I'd fancy Kingscourt to win this if Joe Dillon and Padraig Faulkner are back after injury. Should be a good game and looking forward to it.

Does anyone have the draw for the championship or know who is in the other preliminary round match?

If you type in CavanGAAScores (all one word) into Google, my website is there and it has a page with the full draw for this season. I can't post a link (under 25 posts).

I hope I've broken no rules. I am just trying to help.

Cavan under 16s 2-10 to 0-6 ahead of Dublin in final. 10 minutes to go

  • Registered Users Posts: 624 ✭✭✭KeepTheFaith

Great win for the U16s and twice in a row now we've given Dublin a bit of a pasting in the final. Hard to know how much to read into it but you'd be hopeful about our prospects for the next few years in Minor. Should be competitive in Ulster at least.

Oisin Pierson seemed to have been the main man up front. Any relation to Ger?

Minor QF v Kildare has been fixed for Navan on Saturday evening @ 6:30. Sensible choice of venue and hopefully there will be a good Cavan crowd there.

I heard the first round proper of the senior championship is being played this weekend. Any truth to this? Seems strange with the minors in action on Saturday evening

  • Registered Users Posts: 339 ✭✭Slobberdawn

I believe at least one game is being played.

Thanks for posting the fixtures Blue in hope.

seems a bit odd Mullahoran playing two weekends in a row - I'm sure they will get past Drumalee with no trouble but surely the fixtures could be arranged better.

Where is our lady of lourdes park???

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,620 ✭✭✭willabur

pretty sure thats the name on the gate down kilcogy way

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,100 ✭✭✭Akabusi

Our Lady of Lourdes Park is Mullahoran, where is Dolan Park though?

    Ramor??

Yes, Ramor's pitch was renamed after Niall Dolan.

Listening to Off the ball on newstalk tonight where they said Terry Hyland said wants to stay on for his fourth year

was he not appointed last night?

It's gone very quiet in here. Hugely disappointed that the minors were beaten on Saturday - great character to mount a comeback like that but had left themselves too much to do.

Surprised that Castlerahan were beat by Killeshandra in the championship. As expected Mullahoran easily disposed of Drumalee.

Anthony Forde has stepped down as a selector - good opportunity for new blood to be brought into the set-up for next year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,100 ✭✭✭Akabusi

Forde gone, maybe he was good away from match days, but his conduct during matches won't be missed.

McHale's future in doubt too according to this article. Hopefully any replacements for Forde and McHale are appointed sooner rather than later in order to plan for next year.

Agree, too much of a loose cannon along the line. Jim Gavin and the Dublin management team always keep the head along the line, same as Eamon Fitzmaurice and and the the Kerry backroom team. In fairness to Terry Hyland he generally keeps his cool.

The roaring the shouting should be for the training field. It will be interesting to see who will replace Forde and McHale.

No idea if he played or not - would have been a big loss alright. not too familiar with Crosserlough but from talking to people during the week a close game was expected but Killygarry seemed to blow them away and then stopped playing.

Haven't used it yet but there is a new website wearecavan.com which is streaming audio of the championship - might be worth a look.

Hoping to head to Mullahoran tomorrow evening to watch Lacken v Gowna - could be a tasty local derby.

    2 senior championship games tonight

    Cavan Gaels 5-11 Cucu 0-4

    Lacken 1-9 Gowna 0-11

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,134 ✭✭✭Tom Joad

Cootehill beat Lavey 2-11 to 0-15
Kingscourt were comfortable 11 points winners over Drumgoon

    Draw was made tonight

    Lavey v Gowna
    Cucus v loser Kingscourt/Ramor
    Castlerhan v Crosserlough
    Denn v Drumalee
    Ballinagh v Mullahoran
    Killygarry v Winner K'court/Ramor
    Gaels v Lacken

Couple of tasty looking match - Ballinagh v Mullahoran should be a good one and Gaels v Lacken is usually a tight spiky affair. Killygarry against winner of Kingscourt/Ramor game could be another close one.
