Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I hope that this message is posted in the correct section and if it isn't please feel free to redirect it to the correct section.

I have MS Outlook and while I am able to receive emails, I cannot send emails even to my own account.

When I do attempt to send a message I receive an system administrator message "www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?109.77.67.35"

I have googled www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?109.77.67.35, to no avail.

have any of you come across this problem and if so were you able to fix it? I'd appreciate any assistance thanks in advance.

go to outlook, go to account settings.
select your username in the list, and click "change"
    go to "more settings"

    go to "outgoing server" tab.
tick the box for "my outgoing server (smtp) requires authentication.
ensure use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.

    then go to advanced.

the outgoing server (smtp) will be set to port 25.
    change it to port 587.

port 587 is the official ssl port for incoming mail. (smtp) while spamhaus and all other spam checks operate on the default port 25.

IF you are getting an error message like that then its more than likely that your IP address has been blacklisted. To check yourself out firstly you will have to figure out your own IP address. Go to google and search " whats my ip" write down what this is usually in the format 89.16.24.98 then you need then to go to spamhaus.org and click on the SBL button on the top of the screen. Put your ip address in the box on the right. If you are on the list then there is a possibility that you may have a virus that is pumping spam mail out of your computer. Make sure your virus program is up to date and run a complete scan. Hopefully once you are sure that your computer is clean use Spamhaus to get your ip address off the blacklist. There is also a quick way to get around this, as most IP addresses are dynamic usually switching off and on your router will give you a new IP address and you shouldnt have anymore problems but if you still have a virus then you will probably be blacklisted again if you dont get rid of the cause. hope this helps.

Update. I've just after checking out your IP address as stated in your original post. click on this link and it will tell you what to do

    http://www.spamhaus.org/pbl/query/PBL337174

You need to switch on SMTP authentication

When I open up email accounts > view/change existing accounts > change > more settings> outgoing server.

When I tick "my outgoing server need authentication" tab, I am getting a message saying "account name is already being used".

    seen that before myself.

best thing to do, delete the account from outlook, make a new account with same details etc, and set the details i listed above as required.
