Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm working on a new website/business which I plan to use mostly online methods to promote virally via facebook and Twitter.

Can anyone recommend some good guides as to how to approach both the best way?

    Thanks

Don't use social media for the sake of using them. Think about how social networking can benefit your business and what the conversation. You may never "go viral" - it rarely happens but that's not to say that social media can't be working effectively for you.

Have a look at mashable.com - there's plenty of useful information there including their "Top 20 ways to improve your business using ..."

Follow people who will like and benefit your company on Twitter, update with quality but don't lose quantity, sometimes there's being too sparse in your updates as well as being too active. Interact, interact, interact and get to know your followers, build a friendly profile for yourself and people will continue to communicate, RT you, whatever and you'll grow and grow.

Facebook is a bit harder as they've to come to you rather than the other way around, but promote it on your Twitter and if you have the funds get advertising on it, they have very good rates for clicks and you can specify exactly the type of people you want to connect with.
