Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could be excused in the circumstances. There would have been very little time for proof reading. People make mistakes.

It's a fusion of left & right wing policies, looks like something Fianna Fáil would have conjured up.

They conveniently left out the bit where the country will go bankrupt on their clock.

    Fianna Fáil already did that.

Not a good sign for Government to have a spelling mistake on Page 1 of their document!

I don't think grammar was so much a concern with previous government so much as gross incompetence, dishonesty and greed.

I haven't read the whole thing yet, but there are some interesting parts to it.

A reduction in the VAT rate is a good idea - for both consumers and businesses.

And if you can read between the lines & have some business skills, it's pretty easy to see what areas are going to be good in terms of focusing in on where the capital grants are going to be.

And no mention of "Metro North". Ha ha... fuck you Green Party.

Seems to me that the Purple Shirts are going to be very pro start-up, small and medium size businesses. Which is great! Liking the Strategic Investment Bank idea.

That's a reduction in the 13.5% rate, but you will probably be buying far more items on the top rate which they have pledged 'not to raise above 23%', the figure which FF had already committed the state to reach by 2014 anyways.
'Reviewing' the USC is a very weak means of brushing it under the carpet, I don't expect much change there.

Labour in charge of public sector reform = nothing changing.

Labour will not go up against SIPTU, they're just different sides of the same coin. But at least Joan Brutal didn't get the finance job

Most buyers bought bcause they wanted a home, they did not set the prices, those people did not have a choice at the time regarding the prices.

Because Killiney prices also went up substantially and when could you ever buy a three bed semi in killiney for $350,000? That and the government bought into the whole property debacle by dropping income tax and relying on property based taxes like stamp duty.

People bought not one but 2/3/4 property's

They didn't give him the degree as he insisted on answering every question with an answer based on subtraction and division. Unfortunately, addition and multiplication was beyond him.:(

But there is no point punishing people now who fell for the ultimate trap. We need to dismantle this whole debt/imaginary money system and move on. Otherwise it will just happen again and again, each time getting worse.

It happened in the 80's only difference this time was the size of personal debt
4 yrs ago your bank manager appeared out of a poof of smoke saying ''oh your in equity with your house woundn't you love a range rover in your drive'' !

Its much bigger than defaulting. Returning to a monetary system that is actually backed by something real. Not all this fake debt disguised as money. I know it sounds far fetched, but it is what ultimately needs to be done.

Lots of outside the box thinking required. :)

Anyone I know who bought, bought one - for a home. And then there are a load of young adults under 30s, including myself, in my area who never bought. I know it would be hard to believe but not everyone bought properties left, right, and centre. People were brainwashed into buying believing that house prices were only going to go up. It would have made sense for some people to buy because rents were so high and at the time a mortgage would have been cheaper. Their reasoning would probably be that they would own it after 20/30 years. My heart goes out to those with young families who are struggling now.

I would have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who bought more than one though. Greed pure and simple
