Went for a surf yeaterday in Strandhill and found the beach in terrible condition with rocks and boulders all over the beach..

    What the hell happened?

The waves also seems to break futher out now and arnt as consistent as thesy were last year..

I'm guessing a high swell came and brought all these rocks with it and it also destroyed the sand bar?

Happens every year, big swells clear the sand from the beach

Problem yesterday and all weekend was super small waves! Sand bar is fine and really good when there's a nice swell!

Erosion / accretion cycles. Happens on most exposed beaches, sandbars shift throughout the year, plus conditions vary with tides as well. Boulders / rocks do also get shifted about during bigger swells.

happens the whole time in strandhill, left bank working pretty well these days.
sounds like the OP thought someone dropped these boulders on the beach for some particular reason ;)
People dropping in out there much bigger proble, :(

ive heard some of the boulders have cleared due to a high swell?

anyone been there lately, is the beach/sand visable again?

More likely that sand has been deposited over the rocks as part of the accretion cycle, rather than the boulders / rocks being removed. Erosion / accretion cycles occur on most beaches over the year.

Result is hopefully the same, ie that the beach is enjoyable again.

the sand has all been dragged offshore, if you check on the bigger swells you'll see that the waves are breaking further out. it all goes in cycles, the lighter summer swells will slowly bring all the sand back but the problem is that the sand isn"t getting compacted. first decent swell going into september will drag it all back out again. it'll be interesting to see if the new concrete seawall at water treatment plant will make any difference.......fingers crossed it won't. it's all good though.........when it's on it doesn't get better!!
