I was readin the updates on rte there last night, was Noel as on fire as they made him out to be? They made it seem that every score he got was a quality one

Noel was absolutely unreal. Every aspect of his game was terrific and his scores were savage to say the least. What a Rolls Royce of a player this chap is. .

Noel Mc Grath was pure class last night head and shoulders above anyone on the field.Pa Burke had probably his best game for Tipp which great to see.We really didn't take advantage of the two extra men matter of fact Waterford played better after they went off, good to get our first win but we should have won it easier.

And meself and yourself were only talking about him a few days ago saying how he is developing into a leader! I know tis only the league like but at the same time he's only 20!

Pa Bourke could make his way into the starting 15 for the championship yet this year. It'll be fair hard to narrow it down to six for Deccy I'd say. Still though tis a good complaint to have!

if the first few games have thought me anything its that ive been harsh on Johno in the past. having watched the inexperienced lads like Buggy and Carey struggle, its plain to see the guy is a real asset and if anything is probably too clean a hurler.

    Anyone heading to Nenagh tomorrow?

I wont be now I'd say, report back though and let us know how the boys get on.

Did ye see in the paper that Kelly and Bernard Brogan are going meeting Obama next week? First Usain Bolt, then Barack, not bad for a man from Mullinahone

Maybe Barack might throw in his lot with Moneygall next year? :)

    Ha you'd never know!

I see our buddy zinx is at it again over in the GAA forum. You'd hate to be bitter wouldnt you?

Ha ha ha it was a pure desperation slug from him to be honest. The wind up merchant became wound up. :)

I read one of his posts earlier that Lar Corbett was a one hit wonder who will fall away in 2011 despite him scoring 4 points from play in the 2009 final.

we are not dealing with a centre of hurling knowledge here to be honest but someone with the intelligence of a common fish wife.

I wasn't at the Tipp game today but they won it handy enough without me;)I heard that the new lads O'keeffe,Connolly did well which is good to hear.According to reports Noel Mc Grath was off form but I believe it was his third game in as many days which I think is madness even if he is a young fella,Pa burke got 7pts 3 from play, Brendan Maher was our best player and Gar Ryan is supposed to have played well also.Eoin Kelly went off early in the game with a hand injury but I don't think it's too bad.

Both Connolly and O'Keeffe were terrific. Brendan Maher(0-4), Benny Dunne(0-4), Gar Ryan (1-1), Shane Bourke (0-3) were all excellent and while Bonnar didn't score much he worked his socks off. Noel played some unbelievable passes but as you said 3 games in a week would catch up with you and i think there was signs of tiredness in the second half.

Lar was very impressive when he came on.

After hearing some very worrying but yet to be confirmed news regarding Brendan Maher. He is said to have broken his ankle. That would be a devastating blow if true.

I suppose in one way its better he is out from March til July now rather then June til September ala Paul Kelly but still its not ideal

EDIT: And going back to what Gerry said about leadership, Brendan is another young lad who shows terrific signs of leadership along with Padraic which is a great sign for the years ahead.

Jesus that's disasterous news. I reckon if Lar didnt put 3 away in the final last year Brendan could have easily won Player and Young Player of the year. He's a top class hurler.

I wonder who'll take over his spot for the time being? Gearoid Ryan started there against Offaly I think. Would Woodlock be 100% in time for the Munster I wonder?

You're right tho gunner, when the father text me this morning saying he would be out for 3 months I started doing the Maths, it would be worse if he was gone like you said from June til September

Amazing weather the past few days, and Tipp/Cork at the weekend. The summer starts here:)

I think this will be a full blooded affair, should be a cracker. I'll get slated here, but I predict a Cork win, mainly due to home field advantage, but it'll be close.

    Maher's costly backyard puck-about
Tipperary's Young Hurler of the Year Brendan Maher
    23 March 2011

Young Hurler of the Year Brendan Maher sustained the injury which could keep him out of Tipperary's Munster championship campaign while pucking around in his back garden.

Maher, who helped Tipp to All-Ireland senior and U21 honours last year, could face around three months on the sidelines with a suspected broken ankle.

And speaking to the Irish Daily Star, the Borrisoleigh lad revealed the innocuous prelude to the accident.

He said, "I just went over on it out in the yard pucking around. My foot got caught under me and I put all my weight down on it.

"I'll know more when I see the specialist."

A three-month recovery timeframe would keep Maher out of Tipp's remaining three Allianz National League games as well as the eagerly-awaited Munster SHC opener against old foes Cork at the end of May and a possible Munster semi-final three weeks later.

Personally Gar Ryan is the best candidate in my opinion. Is very athletic and i feel is better suited to there, not that he is bad at wing forward either.

Looks like we might have him back after the Cork match in May, injury not as serious as initially thought.

Good tough test today. the league is probably gone from us now but the main thing is we gave a good account of ourselves. i didn't see the Johno/Cadogan incident but apparently Cadogan grabbed his face-guard and Johno dropped him with an uppercut. Ha ha how ironic Johno would be the man to put manners on Cadogan. He's probably the cleanest hurler we have.

They didnt show many highlights on the show last night, they made out that Buggy did well when he came on which is good to hear. Benny seemed to do well for us too, we've some options open to us in fairness. I'd be happy with the draw now. A good test is what we need now rather than the next time we see Cork like.

By the way lads yer goin to have to shout extra loud there for me this summer for the boys, I've a one way ticket out of here next week. My heart will be broken tryin to watch the sunday game on the other side of the planet

The very best of luck on your travels Ger :)

Yeah Benny had a good game and i think Cadogan's treatment of Buggy the last day in the Pairc was just the incentive he needed to give a good account of himself.

For any of ye that were at the match yesterday, can anyone explain why wadding awarded the free to cork when it was Cussen who jumped in on top of the 2 tipp lads and stapleton bruised his ribs. Unless I missed something I don't know how either of the tipp lads could have fouled cussen!

The challenge is shown on the early seconds of this
    http://beo.tg4.ie/main.aspx?level=&content=546036043777&search=gaa

I was in cork yesterday but didnt get as good view as now. To be honest it was a good field by Cussen and Saint's injury looked totally accidental as Saint had his eye on the ball and just came in under Cussen.

I thought the so called foul given against Curran was very tame. yes contact was made but it didn't put Cussen off catching the ball. The free in was a bizarre decision. A throw ball was appropriate.
