    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/18/20110306/tod-nasa-scientist-finds-alien-life-foss-f62056d.html
Hoover sliced open fragments of meteorites, which can contain relatively high levels of water and organic materials, and looked inside with a powerful microscope.

He found bacteria-like creatures that he calls "indigenous fossils," which he believes originated beyond Earth and were not introduced here after the meteorites landed.

    TL;DR

    Space worms are real.

I'm still genuinely amazed people truly believe Earth is the only planet with life forms on it.

No I don't really think U.F.O.'s have come here, but I do believe there is more than just Earth with sentient life forms.

Maybe they don't believe that, maybe they're waiting to see conclusive evidence to the contrary.

Yet people believe in God, without conclusive evidence.

    Funny that.

I used to be pretty certain that there were other sentient life forms until I read the book The Eerie Silence. Explained very well what we're up against and that our chances of contacting alien life are infinitesimally small.

Because the other theory of a "big bang" is more believable?

It thankfully doesn't require your belief.

The big bang is one possibility, but the thing is we just don't really know.
Invoking some supernatural entity to explain things we don't understand is just silly. People have been using this explanation for as long as we could wonder about such things and so far it has been proven wrong at every turn.
Thunder and lightning aren't "thunderbolts" from the gods, babies don't miraculously appear in womens stomachs, trees and plants don't spontaneously erupt from the ground at the behest of the gods and stars and planets are not formed my divine conjuring tricks, why should the formation of universes be any different?

big bang = actual scientific theory. Anyone who is tempted to reply "only a theory", gtfo and look up what "scientific theory" means, because you don't know. Gravity is also "only a theory".
Please also remember that scientific theories do not ever get "proven".

god idea = idea which I wouldn't even call a hypothesis.

I'd agree with that. The thing is not matter what we may posit, we're basing it all on an example of one. Just one. This planet. Life might be widespread, but equally it may be one of the very rarest events in the evolution of the universe. Intelligent and technological life? It may only occur once in the lifetime of a galaxy/universe. It may be something that kicks off really easy. It seems to have done in our case as very early on life seemed to be around. That said it could have been a massive fluke. Even on earth where it has happened with "perfect" conditions, it seems it only happened the once. All life on earth is related. You're distantly related to the mould on your bread and the wheat and yeast it was built from. We have no "aliens" here, just variations on a theme. As for intelligent technological life? the skies are curiously silent.

Actually it kinda does require your belief. Or at least faith in those who fully understand the concept and maths of the big bang to translate it into something understandable to the rest of us. Even there it has a fair few holes in it(dark matter/energy, inflation). As a theory better than us all fluting about on the back of a giant turtle, yep it's defo a far better idea :)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
