have a line that was moved over to vodafone today, and before it was moved it was running as GDMT on eircom, it switched over today to vodafone, and
now its running at ADSL2+, and vodafone say the line can handle 6.5mb.

prior to this eircom said line could handle only 4-5mb.

    :confused::confused::confused::confused:

so how come vodafone use ADSL2+ and eircom GDMT?

also i am getting Esat DNS servers

    Default Gateway: 193.95.136.238
    First DNS: 194.125.2.241(ns5.ns.esat.net)
    Secondary DNS: 194.125.2.240(ns4.ns.esat.net)

it appears that my line is plugged into esat bt equipment...

Vodafone bought the residental customer base of BTIreland who bought Esat long ago and hence large parts of the network are still Esat.

Edit: Vodafone have their own equipment, and just set it up to use adsl2+. As you can see it provides better speeds.

i know that bit, however the line never showed up as ADSL2+ before... normally always GDMT. eircom had always said ADSL2+ was not available on my line.

so maybe with a bit of luck, the line will be faster than eircom and give a better speed..... ( doubt it though) . maybe was lucky and got one of the old BT ports.

Vodafone/BT have LLU at some of their exchanges. Not all of them though. Any exchange that Eircom have enabled for LLU means that vodafone are providing ADSL2+ on those lines.

it does not matter, ADSL2+ makes no difference, speed is exactly same,
vodafone broadband feels a little slow compared to eircom, something not quite right with it..

Actually it was Esat that did it.
back in the day we got Esat DSL from Raheen when Eircom was still doing trials.

    From 2004

Must have been 2002 that the office got it? 1Mbps was great compared to 64k ISDN!
