    Hi folks,

As you all know, we have a Boards.ie Football Team, we're called Boardeaux, we've been going since August 2006, and play 2 Seasons every year (Summer & Winter).

This winter was our 9th Season, and today we've won the league!

    Here's the season's results.

I know many of you who post here have at one stage or another worn the jersey, so thanks to everyone.

    I'm very happy about this!

    CHAMPIONS!!!!!!

cheers mate :) You know well enough the dark defeats of the early days, today is why I stuck it out this long :p

You'll remember Jules and Cathal are there since the very start, they were involved this season, Jules top scored for us, and Cathal was an ever present in the defence that kept most clean sheets in the league.

And of course Mick, my glamourous assistant! :D

Did it go down to the last game?

Did it go down to the last game?

    Weird story.

We play Tuesday nights, and yes, on Monday we were two points clear with a game to go. We had 12 goals on them too, so a draw would have been enough unless they won by 13 goals.

At half two Tuesday afternoon, our opponents (the team who finished 8th) texted me and said they had no players, and conceded the walkover to us. I did my best to get them to play, told them it was a important game, and they said they'd try. But later on they texted back and said no chance of a game.

League Rules state that a walkover is a 3-0 win, so we had the league won at 5 on Tuesday evening, without kicking a ball. It was fairly disappointing not to get the chance to win it on the pitch, but we knew, in all probability, we wouldn't have lost the match.

But here's the thing. The team in second lost their game anyway, so it didn't matter that we didn't play in the end, even if we had have lost, we still would have won the league.

We've an awards night on the 31st, should be a good night.

The table never lies, Boardeaux were unarguably the best team in a league that was not easy..consistent performers, two defeats against second place and they still finished 5 points behind

    Well deserved champions

Well done Des and Boardeaux. You've come a long way since the Phoenix Park training camps.

Super news, well done Des and of course all the players, excellent reward for the many nights dragging yourselves to windy astro pitches in the far reaches of Co. Dublin to be beaten by 5+ goals!

Very, very happy to hear of your achievement. Glad to see Jules is still sticking away left footed curlers from the edge of the box and Cathal didn't retire after the pain of having to cover me when I missed the odd bouncing ball.

Congrats to all involved. I see Frank Grimes is still involved. I don't know the lad or anything but whenever he hangs the boots up hopefully he starts posting on here a bit. Guaranteed poster of the year based on the few that he has managed to post over my time on boards.
