Morning Traffic in the City Centre -

Hey folks,

Could be way off with the location of this post (if I am I apologise and would be very grateful if re-directed), but I was just wondering about the morning traffic within the City - James' St towards the Stillorgan Road to be precise.

I am moving to James' St soon but I work in Leopardstown.

The route I would be taking would be towards Kevin St, onto the Green, Pemproke and out the Morehampton Road onto the Stillorgan Dual.

Anyone any ideas what the traffic is like around the James's St / Kevin St / Green area in the morning?

Potentially chaotic. Do you really need to move to James's Street, it is really out of the way for Leopardstown. You could get any bus to Colelge Green and Luas from St. Stephne's Green to any of various stops in Sandyford Industrial Estate / Leopardstown.

Christchurch, Kevin Street, South Circular Road and the Grand Canal tend to be quite busy.

Well firstly, I guess I don't have to move to James' Street - just an opportunity to has come up. I suppose it's not ideal but if the journey to work wasn't too bad, then I wouldn't mind.

I looked at the route via Google Maps - only 12km. But the traffic coming around the green or even if I went down the canal past Rathmines and out onto the Morehampton road would prob be quite busy. The bus would crawl down to the green in the morning would it?

Of course I could cycle to the LUAS stop!

Why not go out via Patrick's Cathedral, Harold's X, Terenure, Rathfarnham, right onto the Grange Road, and then left at the T Junction at the top to continue along Grange Road and alongside the M50 to Sandyford Industrial Estate?

Avoids the city centre and most heavy traffic.

You could walk from James street to the Harcourt Luas in 20 minutes. Or take a blue bike

no reason why you shouldn't cycle, wont take more than 10minutes...

just make sure you get a helmet and a high-vis jacket...and lights if you'll be out in any sort of darkness!
i cycle myself, it's so handy!

You could try it a few times in the morning.

The bus would crawl down to the green in the morning would it?

The 123 (not the only route) had good frequency, sections of bus lane, Christchurch would be busy, but Dame Street quiet because of the bus gate.
