Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good Speakers for MP3 player

    Hi there,

I have had old old computer speakers in the kitchen for hooking up to my MP3 player (Sansa Clip+) via jack plug and just recently one of them died.

To give you an idea of how old they were, they came with the very first PC I ever got which was a Gateway with 128k ram and a 2 gig HD :D but the sound out of them was excellent. Crystal clear with a great Bass sound...just the way i like it.

Now I am in the market to buy some speakers. I don't want to spend a fortune but I was a good sound out of them, so what I would like to do is bring my Sansa with me and hook it up to different speakers and hear the sound.

Does anyone know where I could go to do this. PC World/Currys do not offer this facility as all the speakers are boxed and you "pays your money and takes your chances".

Or have you any recommendations ?

    1. They can't be too big (about 12-14 inches tall) as they have to fit on top of the presses.
    2. have to be connectable by jack plug
    3. If they are wired, the wire has to be long enough to have them a decent distance apart.
    4. Work from the mains to generate decent power/sound.

    All information gratefully received.

I spent a while looking for a small decent pair of speakers for my kitchen last year ended up going for a set of Audioengine A2s. They're small, have great sound. After checking a lot of different ones I reckoned they offered the best sound (esp. bass) for the most reasonable price. Should meet all your needs and they come with some decent length connector cables.

The A5 version of them are better but they're bigger and more expensive.

    Here's a review of them:

I got mine from advancedmp3players.co.uk but there's a few websites that do them

I just got a pair of A2s this week. I agree that they are excellent speakers. If anybody is thinking of buying they should look at Audio Affair (http://www.audioaffair.co.uk). I emailed all of the UK official re-sellers last week - I couldn't find any in Ireland. The company above were the cheapest at £135 and the only one that had free delivery to Ireland - some of the others were looking for £50
