Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone done this or planning on doing it this year? I have a mate that lives over there and I've been saying I'd go to TT for years, but this year i really want to. Thing is the ferries seem to be pretty dam sparse, like only 1 a week over and back! Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places...

Ferries go from Belfast, Larne and Dublin.
I usually get a ferry from the north because not enough ferries from Dublin.
In the IOM, there is no prob switching dates of return or ferry to different port.

Did not want to start a new tread.

If been glued to the tt coverage all week. I really have to take my hat off to those guys. I was in Kilarney last weekend and I did the Ring of Kerry, I was ****ting myself going around all those twisty road etc. I did it before in a van rushing to a gig and thought I was going to die. So on a bike I was crawling along!

I had tons of racing bikes wizz past me.

The speed they do on the tt is nothing short of breath taking. After watching that and then seeing guys fly past me over the weekend I've a new found respect for racers :-)

Unclebill, maybe some training would help? or a trackday with instruction?

It's amazing the number of people who've been riding for years but don't actually understand how to steer a bike properly. Often if they get into a situation where a corner tightens up, entered too fast, etc. they panic, try to brake and go straight off into the bushes when all they needed to do was lean it a bit more. I won't say how as it's much better to have someone show you than tell you.

    Scrap the cap!

Thank for the concern. My issue is just a recent fall of a bike in wind and rain. So if it's windy and raining the aul nerves get the best of me. Kilarney was most windy with some rain, so nice and slow for me :-)

Leaning over is my current issue. Getting better since the fall. 936km in two days has helped me no end. I don't think I could ever drive a racing bike that fast. Tbh I'd never even try, even before the fall. It's only when you see these guys going past ya and on tv that you get a sense of how ballsie they are :-)

    Cruising is for me :-)

Just back from the Island, had some issues with leaky fork seals so didnt get to go too mad, highly recommended though here's some footage [ps. the shortcut thru Laxey towards Ramsey avoids most police speed-traps and boring 30mph villages zones etc.] -

Hey Admin, Nice footage! What did you use to record that and how did you mount it? Nice work on he mountain road I never got to do it, it was closed almost all the time when I was there, pity as I had a camera ready to record it and all. Still, great weekend. I'm going to book my tickets over for next year. Did you get any photos, did u bring your camera? Was just looking at some of your pix over on the Photograph forum - lovely. What lens are you using?

Also I've got some starting line pics of most of the riders in the Senior Race... anybody wants one emailed of a specific rider, email me with their race number. Nothing fancy.

Two of these cameras, mounted front and rear with adhesive velcro, quality isnt up to 'go-pro' standards and the battery only lasts about 30minutes but they're grand for a tenner!

    Didn't bother with the press pass and lugging a huge D300/300mm lens around this time, prefer riding the bike rather than taking pics now to be honest, took a few snaps with a point & shoot here though ;

Cool, I already have one of those keychain cameras but have not mounted it to my bike yet. Where did you mount it on the front? I tried mounting it to my helmet in France but it was really hard to get the angle right so I got some amazing footage of the tarmac on some beautiful twisty roads in the French mountains haha - such a pity. Really want to try to start getting soem decent video footage on the bike. Ideally I want to try to mount it behind the screen so you can see the dash too

Stuck it down under the headlight, had a nokia suction mount for the tank aswell, the other one was just on the tail piece [with a cigarette butt wedged under one side to keep it level :D ]

I am going to be heading over this year but more than likely not with the bike. Gonna sail over with my ol' man on his boat. Is it madness to go without the bike? Also he's set on staying in somewhere like Peel, does the whole island be buzzing or will we be miles away not staying in Douglas? There's probably be 3 or 4 of us (25 or so) and himself (touching 60) so wondering would we be better off berthing in Douglas and chipping in for a B&B for himself so we can party?

I was over there with no transport this year and it was grand. We had friends over there if we needed lifts but didn't step into their cars once. There'll be a bit of atmosphere across the island but if you've no bike I'd have to recommend staying in Douglas.

We did it on my dad's boat when I was a kid. Still the best holiday I've ever had.

Take the bike if you can its way better. I was there last year without mine, but rode a friends for one day which was cool, but I missed my own. Thing is the ferries from dublin are rubbish around TT time, I do not understand. I might have to go from Belfast. have not booked anything yet, has anyone else?

Peel is a nice spot, very scenic , you can get a bus to douglas, its a fairly small island so the bus doesnt take that long and they run fairly late.

@ Zascar, alot of the sailings leave from Larne, and the prices have gone up again this year. They dont call Steam Packet the "Steam Racket" for nothing !
Dont know if ill make it next year meself, might go to the southern 100 if I cant make the TT.
