Some really interesting stuff in it that is definitely worthwhile doing.....It's great to see Graveyards get a mention and certainly the work that the committee have done in recent years in relation to Leigue cemetry in Ballina is testament to that. The literary trail and biodiversity website are also worthwhile and I'm sure Michael Viney has had an input into that.

The celebrity adopt a species is a little fluffy and aspirational in its nature. Seems to be a good tie in with the Museum of country life in Turlough re traditional skills, heritage artfefacts, traditional building skills and materials etc.

Not sure about the Hall of Fame for Mayo Greats.....a bit too populous and probably the work of the PR savvy councillors. Though with Inda in situe I'm sure this is in his interest as he is now a Mayo great and probably a shoe in for it.........;). I'm sure he will be in the wax museum as well!!!!

Disappointing to see the composition of the forum and working groups made up of councillors, officials and representatives bodies and not of community activists and developers that are on the ground so to speak. Though the bureaucracy of this may prove too exciting for many and may take away from the role of the councillors themselves.....

Overall, welcome and quite strategic in its aims. How much of this will be achieved come 2016? Now that's the 6 million dollar question.....IMHO not a lot as this is way down the list of priorities for both MCC and the government hence the splitting of the DAST and signifcantly reduced funding for the heritage council.

Which is going to really challenge the Heritage officer in MCC as without cash this plan ain't gonna lift off.......Perhaps a better way to build the plan is to tie the heritage initiatives in with other areas e.g. Tourism. Discover Ireland is flashing a lot of cash at the moment, that could be a runner if a business case is provided for each initiative.
