Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Disability Allowance - Changing from EIT to EFT

I decided to register today on these forums after no luck trying to figure this out for myself, and having little help getting a straight answer from the Social Welfare Department.

I'll be really grateful if anyone here can help me out.

Up to now. I've been picking my disability allowance payments through my local post office (EIT), but due to my disability (I'm legally blind), I'm hoping I can change this so I can receive my money straight into my bank account (EFT), simply as a matter of convenience.

Is this possible? I can't find anything on the welfare.ie website regarding procedure for changing how you receive your payment. How would I go about doing this? When I rang up the Department of Social Protection this afternoon, the guy I spoke to on the phone was obnoxiously rude and completely unhelpful in providing details.

When I asked about this at the local Social Welfare office, they told me I would simply have to call them and request the change, and they could get it done very quickly, but this guy seemed oblivious to any of that.

Any information you people can provide me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the link!

This is simply a request for my current payments to be transferred to my bank, and not for a new payment, correct?

    Awesome, thank you.

One final question. Will my payments be stopped or delayed for any significant time (a family member once told I could be without payments for up for six weeks) through this process?

Just as an aside, make sure your bank does not charge you for the pleasure of them having sod-all to do to credit your account.
