If the guy was in the casino, that explains it,He just lost his arm now hes playing for the leg,But the walker could not understand why his dog would not stop barking,He didnt know he was looking for a hand.there again he could have took it home with him,I,m sure it would have come in handy

Why would you never starve to death on dollymount strand ?

Because of all the sand-which is there...in this case 'arm sandwiches.

This thread is just sick, could be one of the many missing people in our country whose families are devastated and dont know where their son is.

What if it was one of your family members missing and you are waiting to find out its him?

So they couldnt use finger prints if the person is not even Irish ,they could check interpol or dna from families that are missing a family member to find out who he was  but they were relying on a tattoo that was professionally removed?

sorry caseyann, I hold my hand up for adding to the thread, but in all honesty do you not suggest for a minute that our wonderful Gardai would check their missing persons files first?

    Oh getting lower :p

It doesnt look like it.What are the chances of an arm washing up on the beach and it came from another country? And then again if it did those people who disappear and murdered in such a way are usually criminals themselves.Or they have been reported by friends or family members as missing.
I know millions to go through in data banks, but wouldn't they print him and send it through interpol to locate their identity.
    Its like the thames case.

Gardai are now reaching out to the cuplrets in this case to hold their hands up and get in touch...

They feel like a breakthrough is within arms reach and they have offered the family of the victim a shoulder to cry on, despite resources being strethced at the moment, as they have their fingers in many pies.

The evidence will be shuffled through with surgical percision and the finger pointing can then begin.

I heard a rumour it was this fella's arm.

He supposedly locked the fella in the boot of the car and then raped his girlfriend.

    EDIT:
Confirmed, it was James "boots" Nolan.

Limb found at Dollymount was from rapist.
Gardaí have identified the arm of a man found on Dollymount Beach as that of James Nolan, a 46-year-old convicted rapist and burglar who was released from prison last November.
Gardaí have identified the arm of a man found on Dollymount Beach as that of James Nolan, a 46-year-old convicted rapist and burglar who was released from prison last November.

Mr Nolan has not been reported missing but has not been seen since his release.

Gardaí are trying to establish his whereabouts but fear he could have been killed.

This investigation began following the discovery of a man's arm on Dollymount Beach in Dublin on 8 February last.

A DNA sample was taken, sent to Interpol and British police identified it as that of James Nolan, a 46-year-old rapist.

His DNA had been maintained on a database in the UK after he had been arrested there. There is no DNA here.

Nolan was sentenced to 14 years for rape in 1986.

Following his release from prison he was jailed again for 18 months in 2009 for burglary.

He was released from the Midlands Prison on 22 November 2011 but his whereabouts are unknown. His parents have passed away and his family in Finglas have not seen him.

Gardai are now trying to establish the circumstances in which he lost his arm and although he could still be alive, they fear he could have been killed.
