Hi i play world of warcraft online and have started to have latency and connection problems in the last two weeks or so,
So i was told to run a tracert and this is what came up :

    1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1
    2 * 23 ms 22 ms 89.19.64.5
    3 23 ms * 23 ms 89.19.65.49
    4 * * 23 ms 89.19.64.50
    5 166 ms 118 ms 27 ms s2-0-0.dblnir2-cr1.bbnplanet.net [195.16.170.1]
    6 23 ms 24 ms 23 ms ae-7-7.car2.Dublin1.Level3.net [4.69.148.58]
    7 73 ms 213 ms 104 ms ae-11-11.car1.Dublin1.Level3.net [4.69.136.93]
    8 36 ms 36 ms 36 ms ae-5-5.ebr1.London1.Level3.net [4.69.136.90]
    9 * 40 ms 39 ms ae-1-51.edge3.London1.Level3.net [4.69.139.73]
    10 39 ms 39 ms 39 ms ldn-b5-link.telia.net [213.248.96.37]
    11 37 ms 37 ms 37 ms ldn-bb1-link.telia.net [80.91.252.197]
    12 45 ms 45 ms 44 ms prs-bb1-link.telia.net [80.91.247.6]
    13 46 ms 47 ms 47 ms prs-b7-link.telia.net [80.91.250.54]
    14 44 ms 45 ms 44 ms prs-sdix-i1-link.telia.net [80.91.248.113]

My question is how do i go about sorting out line 2, 3, 4, 9 with my isp ?
The guys on the phone from my isp dont seem to know much about this and its making my game more or less unplayable,
Is this something that will sort its self out ?
as you can see i dont know much about this so any help or guidance in this would be great thanks ..

Sorry, but I think that trace looks ok to me.
Small increase on line 7 but still normal.

What latency is the WoW client reporting?

PS : I used to play WoW! I feel your pain! :-D

    Thanks for the reply :)

It starts off ok at about home=40 world=100 but after about 5 mins it hits home=40 - 300 and world= anything from 400 - 2000 and then just crash ...
This only started about two weeks ago before that i was fine.
Iv run broudband speed test that was fine, I did all the steps that the blizz web site asks you to like the cache dump and repair tool,
I also got onto my isp and they tell me my connection and settings are all ok so im sorta lost.
Here is the reply i got from blizz:

    Hello,

Thank you for your email. After studying your files we can see the following:

    2 * 23 ms 22 ms 89.19.64.5

    3 23 ms * 23 ms 89.19.65.49

    4 * * 23 ms 89.19.64.50

    9 * 40 ms 39 ms ae-1-51.edge3.London1.Level3.net [4.69.139.73]

As you can see, many hops actually time out and that is probably the cause of your issue. Unfortunately, this is out of our network and we are unable to assist you. We recommend you speak to your ISP to investigate any issues which could be present.

If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us again.

    Best regards,

As you can see not very helpfull

I'm not sure if it's anything you can deal with.

Try running a netstat in 'cmd' and see if anything is spamming your connection.

In my relatively limited experience, traceroutes are problematic at best.

Try running one of these Ping Tests. http://pingtest.net/

See if you get any thing dropping out.

They're not timing out at all, routers are deliberately dropping your ICMP packets. Traceroutes tell very little in reality.

    You're on Vodafone broadband?!

    Hardline or mobile?

If mobile, there's the problem right there!

Vodafone own Perlico. Post your linestats from the modem and we can judge things better.

It does not look like your ISP is the problem

A better way to diagnose where the bottleneck is, is MTR

    http://winmtr.net/winmtr_download/

    It's ping with tracert combined

It looks like your ISP is fast but the rest is not.
Your ISP could still be indirectly responsible by 'buying' or 'peering' inefficient backhaul. No chance of changing that overnight though

Ill run the game while winmtr is working and get back with results

    Thanks again for the help
