    Hey,
Posted on here 2 weeks ago saying we were adopting kittens. Went down 2 weeks ago today to see them and said we would take 2 of them when they were ready. I asked how old they were at the time. The woman said they were "3 or 4 weeks". Thought she would have know.... So I figured the weekend of the 26th would be roughly when we get them, they'd be about 8 weeks then.... hopefully. Anyways, today I got a missed called from the woman who has them, she left a message saying that the kittens are ready to go and that they are litter trained and eating solid foods, not too happy  Its a bit early yet for them to leave as they're only 5 or 6 weeks.

Going to ring her tomorrow and either tell we're not taking them until the 26th when they are old enough or just say we cant take them until then as a result of other committments or something. Bit annoying!

We got the womans number from Donegal Pet Rescue, dont think they're really involved after that!

Never mind, managed to get her on the phone and she said she would keep them another 2 weeks. She thought we were in a hurry to get them :P

They'll benefit health-wise from the extra two weeks with their mum. Do you know if the owner is keeping them indoors and with their mother? If she's just putting the lot of them out, the flip side is you may find they're quite antisocial by 8 weeks. Kittens, moreso even than puppies, need to be handled and cuddled and socialised up to 8 weeks or they can be difficult to bring around. The extra fortnight with mum is great if they're in a nice cardboard box in the warm inside, listening to the sights and sounds of the house and being stroked by the adults and the kids and so on.

If they're in a box in the garage and nobody goes near them all day, they'll be quite wild by the time you get them (and she might not even be able to catch them in a fortnight!)

Yeah glad she's keeping them another fortnight.

She lives alone in a small house, the cats have a cage but the door was always open, just a bed really. They were in a room on their own as there were other cats around but I think/hope she handles them.
