Well seeing as we're watching geiger counters did any other Tokyo one's just double? The one I'm watching is now showing .38 mSv /hr. That fluctuation could of course be caused numerous other things.

    Here you go - http://wwitv.com/tv_channels/6810.htm

He is actually not speaking now, some member of the cabinet is giving specific information on the incident.

Not watching the news conference (stupid stream isn't buffering). But preliminary reports seem to indicate damage to the suppression chamber however the primary containment still appears intact. Still not fully confirmed yet though, fingers crossed.

4 and 5 reactors should be fine if they're offline, no?

According to NHK 8217 mSv no time comparison given tho.

Edit : just saw Biggin's post.
8217 m Sv / hr. That's way higher than the previous explosions of 50 Sv /hr and I forgot what the first one was? :o

    that makes no sense

    8217 mSv/hr higher than 50 Sv/hr

    how can 8 Sv/hr be higher than 50 Sv/hr?

anyway those figures are just obsurd.

    Sorry a typo :o
    50 mSv/hr.

And, NHK was f**king way off the mark it was 8217 µSv/hr. NHK deserves a kick in the arse for confusing micro with milli.

The poor Japanese. They are getting an awful battering with no signs of hope and improvement. God love them

Is there a fire at the reactor 4 plant, or is it actually inside the reactor?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,842 ✭✭✭Rob A. Bank

People to stay indoors within the 20 to 30 km radius and not go out !

At the plant rather than in the reactor.

the guy said the fire is not 'around hazardous material', but with the way the news has been comming out i wouldn't take that as gospel

To say those people are scared is an understatement.
