Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks,

Anyone have any experience with this flash gun?

I'm thinking of it for a 50D. I'm mainly going to use it with a canon 17-55mm 2.8. The built in flash isn't great with this lens as I get a shadow cast at the wide angle from the lens barrel. Will be mainly using it for indoor, crowd shots and portraits.

I don't do any commercial work and amn't looking to spend that much.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

It should be a good upgrade from the built-in flash. The Metz 36
would give you more power for less money. If I was in your position,
I would consider a more powerful flash like the Nissin Di622 or
Yongnuo YN-468. The Nissin is in the same price range as the
Speedlite 270ex, the Yongnuo is a bit cheaper.

That flash doesn't have a huge amount of articulation, but enough to let you bounce straight up.

Have you tried a homemade diffuser on the camera's flash? Place the the end of a milk bottle or a sheet of white paper over it and see it that improves things.

Anyone got an opinion on the Yongnuo YN-468 as I'm thinking of getting one for my 450D and came across this thread.

Seems you can get them for like $90, very cheap
