    Plastic bottles are a by product of oil. However they are a by product that uses a nuisance material that would otherwise have to be disposed of.
    If the stuff was worth anything the bottles would be reusable.

    In my world, fizzy drinks packed with sugar ( or artificial sugar) would be banned. I am sure they do more harm than cigarettes, and most come in plastic bottles and are very acidic, and probably leech the plastics into the liquid, which we are then supposed to drink. How many spoons of sugar are there again in a bottle of coca cola?
