Fcuksake HS. You look at that line up and Gibson starting is what you get pissed at? Two full backs on the wings and John O'Shea in midfield get to me far more. Espeically John O'Shea.

Tbf, the twins on the wings doesn't look too bad. It's that centre of midfield that looks worse than normal and that's saying something.

As for Gibson, and i hope I'm wrong but, this is the sort of game that is made to pass him by. I expect him to be anonymous.

Have no interest in watching this game now.

    Utter joke of a team.

VDS; Brown, Smalling, Vidic, Evra; Rafael, Gibson, O'Shea, Fabio; Rooney, Hernandez

That's a mental team. Something like:

    VDS
    Brown---Vidic
    Smalling
    Evra
    Rafeal
    Gibson---O'Shea---Fabio
    Rooney----Chicho

    ?

More than likely, I'm not too bothered by it, I reckon the twins could do a decent job on the wings.

What the f**k? It's an important FA cup QF against big rivals, and you've no interest?

I'm perplexed by the team too, but surely it's interesting at least to see the Brazilian twins bombing down the wings, and we have a good back 4 and strikeforce. I'm excited and terrified by this selection at the same time. We've questioned Fergie before though....

    yap that should be it

not a bad looking team imo, my only worry is that Rooney and chico will hardly see the ball

In fairness, Carrick, Fletcher and Scholes have hardly been tearing it up in the centre of the park lately.
I expect Rooney or Chich to drop to the left when we don't have the ball....which will be a lot probably.

That's the formation I can and want to accept. Fabio and Raf should enjoy their attacking roles.

    It's solid alright.

For us this is a great chance to beat United, we'll never play a weaker United team imo and we must take advantage of it. Still reckon there'll only be a goal in it either way.

    VDS
    Brown---Vidic
    Smalling
    O'Shea
    Rafeal
    Gibson---Fabio---Evra
    Rooney----Chicho

Is it impossible that its something like this? People have touted the idea of Fabio as a CM before

Am I the only one who can't wait to see how this works? Could be a car crash, but watching the two Brazilians bomb down the wings should be interesting if nothing else. And sure JOS himself is as good as any Brazilian at the heart of the midfield.:pac:

Cheers old bean, I was planning on watching it with a few beers down the local but all the rugger heads are gonna dominate the place. A few cans of smithwicks, Clive Tilsely (spelling) and my sofa sounds good rightabout now,

Says alot about Obertan and probably bebe that the twins are picked ahead of them

Not saying the twins are bad but raf especially doesnt have much experience in that position

I don't think he's disciplined enough. Arsenal are much more dangerous through the middle than we are. Our game is best when it's played with a lot of width. Let O' Shea do the defensive midfield work, Gibson will stand in the middle of the pitch and be a spectator while the twins have the energy and hunger to do some damage down the wings.

That has to be the worst respective midfields ever in a Man United -Arsenal match (apart from Wilshere).

Either SAF is a genius and United scrape a win or Arsenal win with a cricket score.

In fairness to him, he's more of a wing back than a full back so it shouldn't take too much adjusting. He just won't have to worry about defending as much.

I can't wait to watch this if the twins are on the wing! :D

Why fabio has played in cm before ? If it doesn't work they can switch it around, it will be nice to see how it works out in the end
. Setanta don't even have the line up yet they were speculating whether vidic would start and if rio was back . Joke of a station

top scorer benched again and since this team will lack any creativity, I feel there's no way Herdandez will work better in that line-up.

Or this turns out to be a revelation and united win 5-0 with their best display this season(we can hope;))

Gibson to score twice. One direct from a corner, and one from inside his own half.

    united playing with 7 defenders?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,019 ✭✭✭✭adox

Vidic and Smalling could actually be our playmakers with long diagonal balls down the wings for the twins to bomb onto.

    ................VDS
    .......Brown.Vidic.Smalling
    Raf............O'Shea..........Evra
    .....Gibson..Rooney...Fabio
    ..............Hernandez

Apparently Rooney has been playing CM all week in training.

That would be fun to watch!

We have watched some proper shíte at times this season. If whatever formation is put out today serves up a cracker of a match, then I don't care if we win, lose or draw just to see some good attacking football.

Subs: Kuszczak, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Valencia, Obertan, King.

Would the bench beat the starting XI? :-)

Actually happy with most of the starting eleven.
