I think you need to double check what the role of a council and tourism board is tbh, savic04.

i was at a high level meeting - City Manager - Failte Irelands Gary Breen ere there - i raised the point about meetinireland and dobusinessinireland web sites - Gary Said Waterford had no conference centre - unlike Kilkenny.

i said we have WIT, Theatre Royal, Tower Hetel etc
He Said we do not have one single venue for a large scale meeting and then cater for lunch/dinner
i said we have lots of smaller venues -
    He shot me down!

Tower Hotel did have plans for a huge conference cenre - but in present economy - it will not happen
It's just a poor excuse to exclude Waterford isn't it. If the criteria for being included on the website is having a single big venue, then surely there are other towns or places in Ireland that would fit that bill (e.g. I think Killarney has a big venue?).

The other thing is, how many business conferences actually require the large size venues. He is basically saying the purpose of the website is to market to those who want to host major conferences, but that is also bullsiht because lots of small hotels are listed on the site.

The other shocking thing about the website is the location of Waterford Airport on their map, which appears in the Comeragh Mountains:
    http://www.meetinireland.com/About-Ireland/Cities-Regions.aspx

And in their access to Ireland from the UK page, Waterford Airport is not even shown, even though it is connected to Manchester, Birmingham and London:
    http://www.meetinireland.com/About-Ireland/Access/Great-Britain.aspx

And from France even though we are connected to Lorient:
