what am i entiitled to if i leave work

hi

just been informed by my doctor that i have to stop working nights (worked nights for 5years) or i won't be able to work in near future.

my wife earns 27k gross
my wages 18k gross
3 kids
mortgage 990 per month
loan €220p/m 18 months left

if i give up work what will i be entitled to till i hopefully find a day job.

been to citizen advice but they just keep saying you maybe entitled to this or that but not very clear

If you give up work you can lose up to 9 weeks welfare.If you tell the social that you gp says you are not able for nigh shifts they will point you in the direction of illness benefit, either way you would get a payment for your self and 1 and a half children.rates and more info here http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_benefit.html



I`m presuming that you qualify for JSB or illness benefit.
