Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone give me some channel recommendations? I know about BBC radio but haven't a clue about US radio! I was even trying to find Howard Stern but according to Wikipedia he joined a subscription channel years ago! Thanks :)

Most of them should allow you to listen to normal podcasts. So like this Irish one:

    http://www.nialler9.com/

Check out the iTunes store and find podcasts you like and then subscribe to them in the radio.

Bit of a crap reply no? I asked about US internet radio channels and you give me a link to some obscure Irish podcast!

In fairness your OP mentions recommendations generally. And then you state you know about the BBC. So I thought recommending an Irish one might be useful. If you wanted US recommendations then I would suggest that you edit your OP to state:

Can anyone give me some US channel recommendations?

That would help make it clear that you are specifically asking for US recommendations rather than assuming that people will know that this is the case.

RE: Obscure. Nialler9 continually comes up as winner in Irish blogging awards. Perhaps you are looking for mainstream content providers that are available online?

You got lucky, that gimp would do your head in after 20 minutes.

American stations rely a lot on noise, fcukers don't talk normally ,especially on the sports programmes, they shout at the top of their voices,so your ears take a battering.

switch over to BBC Radio four after a session and note the calmness and tranquility which follows.:p

Unfortunately a lot of US stations are no longer available on the internet outside of the States, most notably any station owned by CBS. You certainly wont be able to get Sirius to listen to Howard Stern.

Slightly off the point but not unrelated, for those with a smartphone the SiriusXM app is not availbale from the Irish App Store.

OP, are you using an internet website to manage your favourite radio stations? If so tell us which website please, perhaps either of these.....

Yeah I have a Roberts Stream 83i so I'm using the radio frontier website. I've had a quick look through some of the genres and most popular stations on the website but was a little disappointed.

    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy an internet radio (maybe the roberts 205 wifi radio) and I have eircom wireless broadband at home with 30 GB a month bandwidth.
How do i figure out how much bandwidth this radio will use as I'd be using it for a few hours each day. any ideas for current users ?
    Thanks, Yegods.

I have same set up , have you downloaded eircom broadband Meter to your pc, it shows what usage you are doing, I also have 3 I phone with unlimited data handy to use Internet radio app . Try using 2/3 hours a day max for a month to see how you get on.

I've been listening to NPR by means of RTE Choice on the DAB side of my internet radio. I've been unimpressed to be honest. Pretty dull in my opinion. As for your other recommendations I've added two of them to my favourites and will give them a listen. I can't connect to the capetalk website at the moment. Thanks though! :)

Any decent music programmes akin to Paul McClune or Donal Dineen? Or decent metal programmes... I'm talking about actual decent quality programmes rather than stuff like "The Rock Station" which are often just someone's MP3 playlist playing one after the other...

BBC Radio 1 is good after 7pm with the specialist shows. I enjoy Zane Lowe (7-9)and Nick Grimshaw (10pm-12am) on BBC Radio 1 - both good for new music.

And Triple J in Australia has been impressive the few times I've listened to it. Mix of hip-hop, indie, rock and electro. Featuring lots of Australian artists.

http://www.thelounge.com is a great internet radio search engine that lets you pick country & genre of music, it's run by pure radios but you don't have to have one their internet radios to use it.

If you go to http://new.thelounge.com they have a new and improved user interface - its a big improvement. A lot faster and easier to use.

Cld anyone recommend a Australian / US show that would be decent to listen to between 2200-0200 GMT. Work late an odd time and need something to listen to.

Something like Moncreiff, that you can email or twit to.
