The 65th (Army unit) wont be there this year.

Swords are having their first parade in 10 years and requested us to attend way way back before anyone else did. Its deeply disappointing as im from balbriggan and love marching in the town, now ill have to scowl at the swordsonians instead!!

Good news is that we are sending a color party however to carry the flag and lead the parade so there should be 2 or 3 sargents and a Lietenant carrying the tri-color at the front so be sure to give them a decent wave of approval as they'll be feeling pretty lonely!!!

    http://www.balbriggan.info/Balbriggan_St_Patricks_Parade_2011.shtml

Balbriggan Town Council have organised the traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade again this year and an exciting parade is promised.

An Ecumenical Service will take place at 1.00 p.m. in St. Peter & Paul’s Church and all are welcome to attend.

The parade will start at 1.45 p.m. from the car park at St. Peter & Paul’s Church

Anybody interested in joining the parade must get a copy of the parade entry form ( http://www.balbriggan.info/Parade%20Entry%20Form%202011.doc) which should be returned no later than Wednesday 16th March 2011 to Balbriggan Town Council, Town Hall, Balbriggan.

If you are in the parade, you are asked to assemble in the northern end of the church car park from 1.30 p.m. The route of the parade will be as follows: Dublin Street, Bridge Street, Drogheda Street and Lambeecher. The marching groups will return by the same route to the review stand at Georges Square. All vehicles will continue on to the Harry Reynolds Road and back to the church car park.

As in previous years, Scoil Rince Cualann Dancing School will give a display of traditional Irish dancing at the Review Stand on Georges Square and inside the Town Hall after the parade.

There will be an exhibition of winning entries in the St. Patrick’s Day Art, Poetry and Essay Competition in the Town Hall from 1.30 p.m. – 4.00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Further details available from Balbriggan Town Council at 01-8412178 or townhall@balbriggan.ie
