You can only delete a thread within 48 hours of you starting it. After that, you need to ask a forum moderator to do it for you, but they may not be able to if there has been considerable contribution from other posters and the thread has grown a life of its own.

There have been no replies to the post I want to delete so is it then possible to delete it? How do I get in touch with a Moderator?

Send them a PM. Click on their username to go into their profile, and just below their name on that screen is a link "Send Message". Click on that to bring up two options, click on the "Send private message to x" link and away you go.
