So I'm not allowed to snatch 61kg and clean and jerk 80kg on Monday then?

Not unless you think hurting your wrist is some weird sort of tapering program.

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Today I snatched 61kg and I clean and jerked 80kg. Lol jk! It was 20kg for both lifts!
Clean deadlifted 105kg for 3 sets of 5
    Then rowing, abs and stretching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭howtomake

As long as you were imagining it was 80kg, I believe that still works something. I'm not sure about that rowing, involves wrists

No wrists were harmed in the making of the above post. Girl Guide's honour!

Snatch and clean and jerk: 20-30kg, just spent an hour fecking around with positions, hang, powers and pulls and the like.
    Deadlift: 100kg x 5 x 5
    Abz and stretching

Also cycled 40km at a fairly swift pace as I had many places to be.

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Snatch: up to 25kg for 20 mins
    C&J: up to 30kg for 20 mins
Upright rows, snatch grip: 35-40kg for 5 sets of 3
    Fsquats: 4 or 5 sets of 6 and a set of 10 at 50kg

    Super Abz programme and stretching

Snathes were good, cleans were good, jerks were mostly good but a bit confusing. I think my body has forgotten how to do them a little in the last month!
Rows were grand. New movement so was just feeling out the weight.
My spidey senses were tingling that my hip might start giving me guff soon so I thought I should do lots of fsquat reps at a low weight making sure I was moving perfectly without any struggle. Still a bit of room here, even at the set of ten. Next time I do this sorta thing, might see how 60kg feels.

I have decided that wrist has now been downgraded from major ow to annoying niggle status. From Tuesday, lifting will proceed at a slightly less cautious pace with appropriate due care.

Yesterday (Friday) was an all day zumba instructor course. There was probably about 10 minutes of sitting down between 9am and 6pm. Absolutely exhausting and not at all recommended on low carb.

Today was day one of kettlebell instructor course. More my style of fun than the zumba thing. I'm not as tired as I expected to be considering I was in a complete heap last night. I put that down to the half bowl of porridge I had this morning. Maybe all carbs aren't the devil after all ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

I finished off the Kettlebell course on Sunday; few workouts which were a bit mean on the grip and forearms so I took yesterday as a rest.

    Today:
Snatched: mostly warm up, mixed up hang, pull and full snatch. Worked up to two doubles at 40kg. Wrist didn't feel any more sore than it did before so I'll stick at 40kg for the moment and see how I go.

I was rushing to finish up training before my client arrived so I just did a few Fsquats fives at 60kg. Light and easy because I'm just trying to make friends with my hip again.

    Stretching and Ab work now.

Yay more clients & Yay 40kg snatch!

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

    Training one
10 minutes of kb snatch practice, 20 minute super abz programme

    Training two
Snatch: up to 40kg for some beautiful triples then on to 45kg for manky manky reps. Wrist was sore but no more sore than it usually is. I think I'm going to back off for a bit and see if it becomes less sore.
Fsquats: up to 70kg for some triples.
    Stretched.

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Snatch: up to 35kg for triples. Got technique prs on all.

C&j: up to 45kg for doubles with few dips. Grand.
    Forgot abs and stretching.

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Snatch: up to 45kg for five singles. Felt great technique wise and wrist was no more sore than it normally is (not less sore either though)

Fsquats: up to 75kg for four doubles and 80kg for one double. Kept it strict and all was good.

Lat pulldowns: four sets of fifteen reps at 15-30kg

    Stretched hips.

Need to practice my kettlebells now and do my super abs programme. zzz...

35kg and 45kg. My wrist is still no better so I'm happy I can do that considering I'm a cripple.

I fell asleep when I got home from the Club so my kettlebells and super abs shall have to wait until another day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Clean: up to 60kg for a triple
Powersnatch: up to 45kg for a single.
Fsquat: up to 75kg for three doubles and 80kg for two doubles

10 minutes of kb snatch work @12kg, averaged 12 snatches in 30s

Super abs programme, did a feck load of cycling, frantic cleaning of apartment and farmers walk to my bootcamp with a rake of kettlebells. Forearms have hardened the feck up! :)

    Tuesday 7th February 2012

Snatch: up to 45kg for singles (2 weird fails, 2 good) then back to 40kg for five beautiful doubles.
Clean and jerk: up to 60kg for lovely double
Fsquats: 75kg for three doubles and 80kg for two doubles
Super abs II, lats and stretching

Best day of training since I hurt my wrist in December. Wrist isn't exactly better but it's no worse. Lift on! :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Spent ages warming up and loosening out.

Snatch: up to 42kg for five doubles, 2 mins rest beween. All good, few really great ones though. Technique drills are working well. Still a bit to go though.

Clean and jerk: up to 56kg for five doubles, 2 mins rest between. Grand. I'm rushing the jerk a bit though. Need to chill out and do it properly. Might need to drill it again.

Deadlift: 75kg for a five, 100kg for a triple then 112kg for five doubles, 2 mins rest between. Tried to pull as fast as I could because I plan to clean this as soon as I can. Grrr.

Split squats (no leg raise): 10kg db each hand, 3 x 10. Legs didn't understand this. They were confused.

Kettlebell snatches: 8 mins (shoulda been 10 but hands were starting to tear.)

    Abs +++

    Stretching

    All the cycling

    zzz

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

    Warmed up well

Powersnatch: up to 40kg for 5 doubles, 2 mins rest

Power clean and jerk: up to 56kg for doubles, 2 mins rest

Fsquat: up to 68kg for 5 doubles, 2 mins rest, did these properly racked as opposed to arms crossed. Wrist wasn't too bad, it just felt a little sore but very tight.

Lat pulldowns: 20-30kg for three tens

    Skipping: 10 mins of 1min on, 30s off, 30s on, 30s off

Still need to do my abz and stretching.

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Snatch: up to 50kg (technically sound, fast, easy) 54kg f x 3, 50kg (technically sound, fast, easy). Back to 42kg for five doubles.
I swung the first 54kg and was losing it behind but flipped it forward almost snapping both wrists in the process. The wrist was very angry after that but being the stubborn coconut that I am, I went for it again. Head wouldn't let me get under it again. At least I know it's not strength or technique, it's just me being a big girls blouse! That's the quickest issue to fix, it just requires a bit of time and patience. I'll be maxing properly in about 4 weeks so I'll have my ducks in a row by then.

Clean and jerked 56kg for five doubles. Most were pretty good but started running out of steam towards the end. Conditioning has gone to pooh!

Fsquats: five at 56kg, three at 65kg, three doubles at 70kg, two doubles at 80kg. I don't know why Ed wants me to keep these light, I'm doing them well and they're easy. I shall push these.

Still need to do kettlebells, abs and stretching. Boohoo.

I finished off Monday's session with 10 mins of kettlebells and I did my super abs programme and stretching. I am great.

    Wednesday 15th February 2012
Powersnatch: up to 40kg for five doubles.
Clean and jerk: up to 55kg for five doubles then 60kg, 65kg then 2 gammy pressouts at 70kg and 71kg. That made me feel weak and lousy.
Deadlifts: up to 115kg for four doubles then two doubles at 120kg (one set hook grip, one set mixed grip). About 30s between those sets and easy.

    Stretched.

I did 10 minutes of Kettlebells and 10 minutes of Super Abs even though I was tired and didn't want to. Do I get my medal now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Snatch: 43kg for five doubles, including one catastrophic fail (equals a very bruised bottom) then up to 50kg for a single. It was like pulling teeth.

Clean and jerk: bah. Eh, attempted something like 56kg for doubles but reality was not quite that. Not quite sure what I managed in the end but I'm sure it was crap.

    Fsquats: hahahahahahahaha. No.

    Moar rest and food please.

Trained in ECB before the comp today. The place is looking class!

PSnatch: up to 40kg for six doubles. I keep wolloping the b'jeez's out of my hip crease with these. At least I'm making contact now but OW!!!

Rack jerks: up to 56kg for five doubles then 60kg for a single. Wrist wasn't feling the love so I left it there.

Deadlift: 115kg for five doubles with hook grip then 1130kg for a single with mixed grip.

    Stretched hips

Loaded for about 3 hours, making a point of deadlifting the bar into place whenever it was out of line on the platform. Fun :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Snatch: up to 44kg for five doubles, only one fail. Spent ages drilling technique in the warmup. These are starting to get a good groove. Well, they would be if this damn wrist would stop being sore!

C&J: Up to 56kg for five doubles. Good. Again, warmed up really slowly, starting with the bar, drilling the right positions.

Wrist was really sore after loading on Sat but didn't hurt at the time. Might be time to go see someone who fixes wrists for a living.

Snatched up to 55kg fairly handy and cried for joy then snatched 40kg for a few doubles and cried because I was tired and my wrist was sore. I'm training for the emo olympics and L and Token have a serious headstart on me.
Tried to press and clean and jerk and wrist said no so I emo'd about a bit more and then
Single leg squats: ten reps at 15kg, 20kg 25kg very slow and controlled
Deadlifts (hook grip): 115kg for two doubles then wanted to do 120kg for doubles but only got one double and about three singles because I have no left hand at all, only a mirror image of my right hand.
I didn't stretch or do my abs so there.

A man crying is more emo than a girl crying. You'll really need to up the ante to stand a chance. A bottle of aspirin chased down with a bottle of Vodka following your next emo session might be the fake cry for help necessary to clutch the sadness trophy.

BZS (Bulgarian Zombie Squats): three sets of ten, think I used about 30kg. Really slow and controlled. And boring.
Deadlift: few reps, worked up to a double at 120kg then a single at 130kg then couldn't move 140kg. Didn't really want to move it anyway.

Should you be doing heavy deadlifts if your wrist is fractured

You spiked my organic himalayan twice purified mountain water with beer, didn't you?

Today: few light snatch pulls then a deadlift off with Laura Nolan. I've been training my deadlift and she hasn't and she beat me by 10kg. I'm not sore about it or anything, just sayin'. I did 130kg which is a hook grip pr and did 140kg mixed grip which is the most I've done in awhile I think. 145kg wouldn't budge but then 140kg wouldn't budge the other day. Few hook grip doubles at 120kg, grip shouldn't be an issue soon enough.

Was in my friend's gym so had a bit of a playtime. Did some double unders, then some one legged double unders. Some one armed barbell snatches then a quick "more than three" with 21-15-9 of step ups and 12kg kb snatches. Think my time was 3.35.
Might do some zumba later and some ab work. I have a new super duper training programme which I start tomorrow and I'm happy enough with it considering my current limitations. Also fracture clinic appointment tomorrow morning to find out the extent of the damage. I'm hoping they can just give me some magic medicine to make it all better and I can live happily ever after in the land of max snatches and clean & jerks...

  • Registered Users Posts: 512 ✭✭✭supposedly

Very confused  I'm just back from the fracture clinic and after queueing for over two hours, I got 30s with the surgeon and he told me that I may or may not have had a fracture or maybe it's a ligament sprain; the nurse who told me it was broken may or may not have been wrong and that I can go back lifting now and "do what I can do". All this as he was ushering me out of his office.
I clearly can't lift because it's still sore. He begrudgingly told his secretary to make me an appointment with another specialist in four weeks. In the mean time, what me do???
    I'm going maxing.
