RISE against's new album Endgame is out tomorrow. You can go here to preview it: http://www.riseagainst.com/preview/

It is (imo) their best, most thought-provoking work to date. They're not just another punk band singing about their own ****ty problems, they're at least trying to change something. Check em out

Only saw this thread now. Endgame is a great album :D. In particular Architects, Satellite and Broken Mirrors.

As always, the lyrics are brilliant. One of the bands that still write lyrics on themes other than getting pissed and getting dumped!

Wish they'd come back! Saw them in Feb '09 (those pics above are amazing by the way, I only had a sh*tty camera back then so mine suck :()
Couldn't afford a €99 day-ticket to Oxegen last year just to see them :(

Seriously lads. This whole "one of the only bands that write about changing things" business is just absolute rubbish. I can understand that this may be your opinion if all you read/listen to is kerrang and music from MTV.

In Ireland alone there are LOADS of bands that cover these issues. Check Only Fumes and Corpses, Droppin Bombs, Runnin Riot, The Excuses from Ireland and Northern Ireland. Further afield you've got bands like Oi Polloi, Conflict, Inner Terrestrials, Suicide Bid, The Restarts.... LOADS that cover everything from anarcho-punk to ska and reggae....

It's time to stop paying attention to main stream media and digging into the scene closer to home that is ravished with awesome bands who deal with the same issues that Rise Against do and much, MUCH more.

I didn't say that they're the only band who write about changing things, I just said that their lyrics are brilliant, whether they're writing on a political theme or not. So many bands nowadays only write about drink and girls, so listening to RA is breath of fresh air! :) Wasn't saying other bands that "change things" didn't exist!

but yeah, I took that as "one of the only". My comment was aimed at the thread in general, though. Not just your post :)

What's wrong with singing about drink and girls?
Do you not like drink and girls?

"Let's get drunk and beat up girls, Oi Oi!"

Rise Against's first two albums were great, particularly Revolutions Per Minute (great title too) but ever since then, they've been in steady decline. The last album before this one got one spin in my CD player and ended up on the shelf. Saw them a few years ago in TBMC and they were fairly crap. Played far too little from the first 2 albums, even though it was only the tour for their 4th. I shudder to think how much would get left behind on a tour for their sixth....
