Seen one in crystal antiques in Carlingford, Co. Louth. They are on line.

Thanks for that have a few bits and pieces but it's the two piece buckle I'm looking for ,,, hens teeth would be handier to find

A lot of these were replicas, mostly because when originals were worn a long time ago, they were over a tunic on a leather belt much like an RIC and DMP one. I got a replica from a GS member,which he had worn for years. Some purchased them to attach to a trouser belt, not all Sgt etc allowed members to wear them. I have photos of the real and replica for reference. Sometimes on rare items like these, a replica is good enough to display if its nicely made. The replicas are sand cast in brass and nickel plated, the originals looked like they were die struck. Interestingly, the DMP, Polini Atha Cliath and Garda ones are basically the same design buckle just different centre and surround designs. Good chance the Garda one was made by John Ireland or the Dublin Jewel & Metal Company.

ye a lad in mountjoy made them and sold them but still cant source one ,, if ya have any pics of on i would very much apreciate it

Can you post them?? I was always under the impression that they were replicas
of the old DMP and never issued.
