Jesus Christ. Fingers crossed for him.

But he is a tough, scary mofo, and if it is cancerous, hopefully he will scare it out of him then kick the crap out of it.

Is it benign or malignant? If it's benign, there should be nothing to worry about, if it's malignant, then he needs all of our prayers.

^ Hunter said on the radio earlier that it has not been confirmed one way or other, but the fact he is being sent for immediate surgery does not sound good to me (not that I know one way or other).

It does not sound good. Usually, they can do a biopsy to determine the malignancy of a tumour. If it was a benign tumour, he probably would have been able to play out the season and get it looked at in the Summer . . .

A reminder to lads that you should get checked out regularly.

It's been reported Abidal's op is done very often and tumor benign. And that he'll return in 5-6 weeks.Thats what we all want.

    From Guillem Balague's twitter.

    Sid Lowe on Twitter
UEFA have refused to let Lyon and/or RM wear t-shirts in support of Eric Abidal tonight. <insert your own 'heartless bastards' here>

Are these people for effing real

Meh, I am sure any of his french team mates will probably have something under their jersies anyway. But I still do not see the issue from UEFA point of view? Showing support for their freind/fellow pro? Oh the humanity.

Delighted he's gonna be OK. A little tumour is nothing to a man who's prepared to go face first into the turf to head a ball off the ground. The unsung hero of the Barca squad.

I watched the full 90 minutes of France vs Brazil from 06' yesterday, mainly because I've been on a bit of a Zizou binge, but Abidal was rock solid, he is a top quality player. And barring the 1.5 seasons he was shakey (the ENTIRE Barca team was towards then end of Rijkaard), he has been fantastic, not really set a foot wrong.

Just heard Eric Abidal has been diagnosed with with cancer, thoughts are with you. The man was a rock vs arsenal as well

    Hope that's not true :(

    Get well soon Eric.

    oh crap :(

^ I think Rio is mistaking a tumour for definite cancer. Nobody knows anything for certain until after the op.

So lets all keep our fingers crossed that that bastard cúnt of a disease that cancer is is not infecting yet another young man.
