Travel aside Shaktar is a grand draw for Barca. If Arsenal are Barca lite, then Shaktar are Arsenal lite.

Real - Spurs is the tie of the round. Both sides are stronger in midfield and attack so it should be an extremely entertaining tie.

Man United - Chelsea should be a right old battle, probably more of an interesting prospect than an exciting one, but something worth looking forward to also.

I predict that Barcelona and Real Madrid will be on different sides of the rigged draw as Uefa have decided the moment is right for an El Classico Final to reverberate around the world of football.

It is also very likely they will be blatantly scheduled via a fix to meet in the semi finals because Uefa are happy to keep them apart as far as possible but ultimately don't want teams from the same country to meet in the final.

It is also possible they will be fixed to meet in the quarter finals, Uefa like at least one big mega clash in each round and this has been chosen. This conspiracy is the least likely though, I make it a 1 in 7 conspiracy.

    Mourinho back to London.

plus he gets on well with 'Arry.

it should make it entertaining, but not too much needle unfortunately. :)

Utd/Chelsea will be titanic i suspect...i'm going to predict a slim Chelsea win, but it's on an absolute knife-edge. Carrick, Fletcher and Scholes will have to buck their ideas up i suspect.

Barca have it tougher than many would like to believe. Shakhtar are extremely useful, and the second leg being in Russia is a big deal.

I also expect Inter to scrape through again. could it be the most unlikely Champions League retention imaginable...that's IMO obviously...but i look at them and don't see a Champions League winning side.

I don't know why people are backing Utd, they haven't beaten us home or away recently. they have a patched up defense and we are almost at full strength. just luiz can't play

    I'm a United fan and I can't see beyond a Chelsea win.
You were lucky not having to play us in Novermber when you were on your bad run, very very lucky indeed.
United have too many injuries to compete on any fronts at this stage, it's a complete disaster at United at the moment.
I'll be happy as long as our patchwork back four doesn't fall to pieces and allow Chelsea to completely embarrass us.:(

Not a bad prediction from myself earlier in the thread:

    Barcelona V Shaktar
    Real Madrid V Schalke
    Tottenham V Inter Milan
    Manchester United V Chelsea

Looks suspiciously like a fixed draw to me.

It almost guarantees a Spanish vs English final, with an outside chance of Inter making it.

Pitting the two Spanish giants against each other in the semi's & the 2 big English clubs against each other in the quarters will see to that.

And Spurs haven't got a hope in hell.

As much as I'd love to see it, this simply isn't going to happen.

I think this will be very close, I wouldn't be surprised if the winner did so on away goals.

I'll go for something like 1-1 at Stamford Bridge and 2-2 at OT

No-brainer IMO and Im not sharing your view. Real will be two notches too heavy for Spurs when they turn on the heat.

Nice one, hoping for United (strangely enough)

Barca won't like this one. Hardest draw for Barca I reckon. Shaktar is the CL equivalent of 'a cold Wednesday night in Stoke' I think.

6 goals in two games between these? Unlikely. It wouldn't surprise me if a single goal decided the contest.

Hasn't there been 6 goals between our last 2 games? 2-1 at SB a few weeks ago and 2-1 at OT towards the end of last season, or am I forgetting something? (I'm fairly hungover tbh)

Is the UEFA site still open to application? My brother and I done our's yesterday because I though they were closing then. Expensive indeed, but if you team reaches the final I, personally, wouldn't say no.

3/1 for him to get mugged in Madrid in the first leg aswell as outside White Hart Lane in the 2nd leg. Might aswell go for the treble.

Chelsea V Real Madrid in the final!

Madrid should have enough to see them off but I wouldn't be suprised if they got a win at The Lane.

I would argue the ref had a hand in all 3 of those games and carrick was a cb for one. Anyway bring it on, you have no reason to be that confident with you're league form this season.

I think Madrid will be over them like a rash in a very intense Bernabeu first up. I don't see Gomes, Assou-Ekotto, Dawson/whoever handling it well. Considering the disorganisation defending a lead at home to Meelan. Might be close as a one-off game at WHL.

I think the Chelsea vs United game will be pure knife edge stuff.
Dam near impossible to call, I'll be happy once we don't concede any goals and score a few ourselves!:pac:
Torres to finally tie the laces and start doing a bit of damage.

Oh man United - Chelsea will be some tie. I'd say we should shade it considering the second leg is at OT. Home second leg is very important in any tie imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

Not a big fan of either Chelsea are Man United lately in terms of entertainment value but it should be tense over both legs which will more than make up for the lack of quality football. A throwback to the old Liverpool v Chelsea CL games.

The last game was a belter.

I'm having visions of a similar "all or nothing" type game like our 4-4 encounter with Liverpool in the second leg.
Hope to jaysus we head to OT with a goal advantage, and ideally not conceded.
