Winter solstice and Newgrange

    Just had a thought here,

    Being that the earth was shifted on it axis a wee bit would this effect the winter solstice event at Newgrange in any way?

    Doubt it. There's been massive earthquakes all through history, recorded and non-recorded which have moved the earth's axis slightly but it doesn't seem to affect Newgrange.

    Just before 9am, the sun rises over the nearby hills and four minutes later a shaft of golden sun lights up the inner chamber. When it was originally built, the light would have struck the back of the cruciform (built in the shape of a cross) chamber but due to changes in the earth's axis over the millennia, the light now just reaches into the chamber and stops two metres short of the back recess.

    Has the 26,000 year axis wobble cycle affected Newgrange(Precession of the Equinoxs)? Yes
    Has the 4 inch shift of the earth after the earthquake when measured with respect to the centre of the earth affected Newgrange. Technically Yes. Maybe the first direct photon of light from the sun enters the chamber a femto second earlier. Maybe the shaft of light at maximum extension into the chamber reaches the width of 200 atoms further in :D For all intents and purposes though. No
