The info I gave was from the website, today and yesterday.

Although the enclosed Range has not moved the backstops have been changed around in the past few years as the Windmill was constructed and progressed.

I have never used a range finder on it so I can't prove or disprove what the Official range is.

I will say that it was measured originally with a Tape not a range finder.(although they checked with a range finder. Most range finders are +/- m or yard accuracy only calibrated)

    Hey lads

I'm going to be up in Offaly this weekend and was thinking about going to the shoot on Sunday.
I'm not a member so is it possible to just go as a spectator and if so what are the rules??

    Thanks
    CS

Bring your rifle/s, licence/s for same and insurance eg IFA,CAI or NARGC and you can shoot in competition too :)

If you are a spectator advise lads/ladies in office and I'm sure you'll get a guided tour ;)

    Thanks Bunny Shooter,
I wont be able to bring my rifle this time so im just going to go for a look.
So is it just a case of turning up and walking into the event.
I presume you bring your own hearing protection?

Sorry for all the questions just haven't been to an event like this before.

There is a "limited" amount of hearing protection for visitors.

I would always bring your own, and would always tell others to bring theres.

If you want to visit pistol range also Bring SAFETY glasses

Would a 1.5 inch group at a hundred win the comp lads? Whats first prize?

Yes if everyone else shots 1.75 groups :p

Kudos and momento plack/plate for all prizes last time out :)

Well it will be me first time shooting in the range if I go. Can you shoot any type of .223 ammo you want?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,096 ✭✭✭bunny shooter

    Thanks Bunny Shooter

No bother lad, I was in your position once too don't forget ;)
I wont be able to bring my rifle this time so im just going to go for a look.

No hassle there just thought you weren't aware you could if you wanted to
So is it just a case of turning up and walking into the event.

Yes, except report to the club house first and tell them you're a visitor and you'd like to see the competition.
I presume you bring your own hearing protection?

If you have it, bring it
Sorry for all the questions just haven't been to an event like this before.

Ask away anything I can't answer I'll direct you to someone who can, except Tacwho as he talks a lot of ****e :P

Did you mean 0.5" or 1.5"

From my experience at the last shoot, keeping cool and relaxed is most important.

Several of us made simple mistakes, dropping rounds, pulling shots etc.

I myself fired at a deer target before it turned (premature e***ulation :o )

Which messed up an otherwise good score.
The last comp was won by a .243, but that shooter was a very experienced and competent shooter.

Don't worry about groups as I say most of us will be lucky to get a shot away.

3 second window to acquire target from a possible 4/5 and shoot.

I think it will be a tricky comp

BunnyShooter try and bring something that shoots straight this time will ya, or at least shoots where you aim it. And no not the shotgun. :p:p:p

I reckon bunny's Enfield would be a cracker for this. Brilliant fun too. Nothing faster than open sights for target acquisition. Red dot would be a perfect balance.
