Those heifers are a mix of ~12-24mth. Some of the weanlings l bought last back end l just can't believe how well they've sprouted up. You'd get it hard to pick out the older ones.

Re grass. That's one of my best grazing fields. I've subdivided it up with extra troughs and whte tape reels, so hoping to get good rights out of it this summer.

26 April (Saturday) - it got 'a nice dash' of slurry (l'l calculate gallons/acre again )

Will post follow up pic in 2 weeks or so

They started appearing everywhere like mushrooms, will leave bar at home next day

Lifted some wall, it sure ain't pretty, but all it needs to do is keep stones off the ground and provide a little shelter. Horrible building stones, small and roundy.

Off my own charolais bull. Won't hold her as would probably be lacking in the milk department plus wouldn't work with the current bull

Not sure to be honest. Initially intended holding her until october/november and sell with rest of our weanlings but not too sure. Will play it by air. Hard keeping her on good grass whilst holding her away from the rest of the herd and bull. Will depend alot on yields from first cut silage to see if there is ground available for splitting the herd up a bit

Can the bull be taken away?
She is a nice heifer, & would be nice to see you do well with her.
Sold some WH bulls in July sales for a few years (October calves), did alright, wouldn't of made much extra, holding out till October

Would manage keeping her from the bull alright. Yeah its tough to know when is the best time to sell the likes of her. Will run her to 400kg anyway. Will see what prices are like at that stage

Surprised at that. Would have mostly sim x cows and rarely have any problems. They look like big lumps of calves though. Are they ai or stock bull

Stock lim bull. Told the boss an angus may have been better last year and he's regretting it now. The calves are huge.i can barely hold them for tagging at 2 days old they are that strong.

Any idea of the breeding in the bull? He sure aint suitable for heifers.

Not really FIL never said where he got him. I'd say his days are numbered now anyways

We've had 2 calved this week, calves are massive.
Allot is about the feeding of the cow too.
We've 1 left, she's still in & on hay carrying to CH. Saw a guy let out his, cos he doesn't want to open a bale for 1 cow, & too proud to borrow hay. Just waiting for call for massive aax. Both times up

We let them out for a few hours everyday just so they can loosen themselves out

God help you come dehorning so! Are those imported heifers. Their fine looking animals. Its a pity about the sections. Its better than dead calves and crippled cows though

Hey now, I bought a harrow, not an anchor :cool:

Apparently your blackthorn bush idea is well known back these parts, except a pine tree was recounted as the substitute :pac:

Yeah Romanian. Snag is that there genetics are used to bad fodder so the good silage last year sent them into overdrive over the winter
