Canola = oilseed rape. Yes we grow it here and grows well yielding around 4.5t/ha.

Our problem with oilseed rape this year was that there wasn't enough moisture in the ground at planting time to sow.

What we are planting now are Sunflowers.

About the same yield as oilseed rape, maybe a bit more.

They are tricky to grow. Ground conditions must be perfect at planting.
Heavy downpours after planting would ruin them, so only suitable for dry free draining soils.
Crows and pigeons go crazy for them and before harvesting smaller birds love them as they can land on them without the stem breaking.
They are called "tournasol" as they have the amazing habit of following the sun across the sky, you can tell where the sun is on a cloudy day by looking at the way they are facing.

Harvesting is done with a standard cereals header with a few attachments.
Harvest is done around October.

I'm in two minds do I love them or hate them!
On how they look, again I'm in two minds, when in flower they look nice, fields of big yellow flowers facing the exact same way. But from the onset of ripening they look like the devils garden, black as the ace of spades.

Edit. They demand months of strong sunshine. That's why they are only grown south of the Loire.

Mow ourselves. Contractor did the rest. Gave a packing for an hour after with 2 tractors and then cover.
We usually get the contractor with just the wagon and put it in the pit ourselves but didn't have the time this year.

I'm standing my brothers lawn. He built on the farm but doesn't do any farming. (He helped covering the pit tho). Great sea view alright, never appreciated it growing up but I do now. Being so close to the sea has its down sides, one year the salt burnt 5 or 6 acres of grass and it had to be re seeded

Its all safe. My dad bought a "Nifty lift 120" about 5 years ago. So I'm cutting the heads of the nails from the boom lift basket and throw the sheets down as I go.

Jus a few, he is aAI out of Angus heifer, very very slight pull and would prob have managed on her own,he is very very quiet, heifer from last yr is very very skittish, can't get within 5 yards of her, this fella has more shape about him

From what I seen go up before you edited it, I think your Dropbox profile is set to private as the links were just asking me to sign in.

Try opening up a photo, then right click to open in a new tab and then copy that address link. I can tell you what's happening then
