Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Territorial Tits

Over coffee the other night a colleague of mine was moaning about the bird poop on his car again after he had just washed it. Turns out to be typical Tit behaviour of attacking the wing mirror reflection.

I explained this and as I did I could see his eyes glazing over. I told him to turn his mirrors in when he gets home and this will stop the bird seeing the reflection. I explained that the bird is expending valuable energy protecting its territory from another Tit that could go to collecting food for the chicks. Glazing of eyes got worse and was staring at the wall.

He didn't see why he should have to turn the mirrors in, instead he argued that if the bird kept on banging his head against the mirror he would eventually get fed up or hurt himself and stop. My colleague is actually well educated but as you can guess is not really one for nature.

So change of tack I told him about the acid in bird poop and the irreperable damage it would do to his paintwork. He now turns his mirrors in when he gets home and also when he comes into work.

    Result :)

I wouldn't mind but he has electric mirrors on the car anyway... plus the fact that at the moment we are both working night s I didn't want to ask him why he turned the mirrors in when he came to work LOL go figure:confused:

I've a Blue Tit pecking at my house windows and doing obsessive behaviour with plants stems nearby. The Tit has been at this for days. Closing curtain just moves it on to a different window...:(

Nearly a week on and this Blue Tit is still at my windows.

I guess natural selection will sort this out.
