Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello there -

My parents currently Sky customers are thinking of ditching there subscription... and going with a Freesat box.

    eg.
    http://www.satellitetv.ie/shop/index.php?controller=product&product_id=217

But the mother is a complete Eurosport nutter... and Freesat does not have Eurosport...

So the question is simple, what is the best way of getting eurosport without having to have a Sky subscription?

    Thanks.

Assuming your using a sky dish and just replacing the sky box with a FTA/Freesat box... you cant get eurosport -

However you could put up a second larger dish and point it at 19.2 (im considering do this myself)

Then you will get everything here :

    http://www.lyngsat.com/astra19.html

This includes Eurosport, albeit in the german language (personally this wont bother me as i dont usually listen to the running commentary)

Also at the moment, Europsort HD in ENGLISH is free from this same satellite - at the moment we are unsure as to whether this will be permanent or just a temporary free feed - IF it is permanent, then i would say youll see a lot of people putting up dishes or adapting their current rig to get this gem - a HD sports channel ... free of charge!

Aside from this you also get many other free to air channels , check out the link -

If you would prefer to use one dish, you could replace your sky dish with a larger one and use two LNBS, - it would be possible to get both freesat and 19.2 off the same dish with that scenario

Sic semper tyrannis - thus always to Tyrants

If getting a second dish/lnb for German Eurosport doesn't suit, Eurosport Player is quite handy if your parents have a decent broadband connection. €40 for the year, and you get British Eurosport 1, 2, & HD, plus special events often get their own stream so that you can continue watching them even when none of the main channels are showing them, or select a different match to watch etc.
