1st gig could have being LIGHT A BIG FIRE at the Mill in Celbridge about 1987/88.
lost count of how many since but being to all sorts like FEILES/OXEGENS/PICNICS/LIFE festivals and over 200 gigs in big stadiums to 20plus people in a pub.

wrong on 1st gig=was thinking back last night and i went to the U2 gig in croke park in 1985 and self aid in 1986.
was a few weeks off my 15th birthday when i went to croke park.i belived i was going on my own but my dad had asked some of the older lads n girls on the bus to keep an eye on me.

Roughly a gig a month since I was 18 and a few before then, so probably 80/90ish, hmm... I thought it would be higher.

I use Last Fm for tracking them too, still need to put a few more up on it.
    at the moment it says

You’re attending 47 upcoming events and you’ve attended 846 events in the past.
    Upcoming | 2011 | 2010 | 2009 | 2008 | 2007 | 2006 | 2005 | 2004 | 2003 | 2002 | 2001 | 2000 | 1999 | 1998 | 1997 | 1996 | 1995 | 1994 | 1993 | 1992 | 1991 | 1990 | 1989 | 1988 | 1987 | 1986 | 1985 | 1984 | 1983 | 1982 | 1981 |

But thats over a long long time!

I can count the amount of gigs I've been to in my life on one hand.

If you gave me a calculator.

I have an envelope where I store all my tickets but then I've not been given tickets to many gigs or not been allowed to keep the ticket so I'll never be able to count properly. All I can say is a great many. My first gig was 1996 - Oasis in Pairc Ui Chaoimh & last gig I was at was Out on a limb records showcase in Dolans with a rake of bands playing. In terms of last big gig, Beach House in Marlay Park, didn't stay for Villagers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,055 ✭✭✭JJ

I would have great difficulty counting all of them. I've saved most of my ticket stubs but even then there were some gigs where I didn't have tickets. Like Homer there, I'd need a calculator but it still wouldn't be accurate.

I can still remember all 17 I went to but thats probably because I'm only 20.

I will strive to keep the memories in my head because gigs are some of the most exciting moments in my life.

First gig in 1979, so 'a stupid amount' is probably the best guess I can come up with.
