Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am thinking of buying a second hand box to replace my regular sky plus but dont know which is the better/newer type to get, thomson or amstrad and are the hard drives upgradeable like with the regular sky plus ones? cheers

Thomsons were discontinued/retired ages ago, lol. There were a few technical problems with them too.
The only real benefit was of course the fact that they had dual HD outputs, hdmi and component.
So if you have use for a component connection, then it would be a good choice.

Otherwise, the new mini Amstrad HD boxes are probably your best bet.

Do you get to choose or do you not just get what Sky give you?

Sky now owns Amstrad so they supply almost all new boxes and have done for some time now...Keep well clear of any thomson made boxes..

As Steve mentioned, the vast majority of SKY+HD installs these days, use the Amstrad box above.
