YOUR Player of The 6 Nations 2011

  • Shane Jennings was done for the same offence. Is he filthy?
Dupuy also in a moment of madness.

You can't base an opinion on one instance of a player doing something right or wrong, as I've said before, given enough time, I could easily string up a 5min clip of O'Driscoll looking like a piss-poor 13, and I'm certain there's enough footage out there to make Ian Dowling look like the best winger the NH has ever seen. A good backing track and I could be his agent.

Players get hot headed, lose control, do bizarre things under pressure. If you were to pick out one player in the entire world who you would describe as a saint, I could (but clearly wont) spend time tracking his game tapes, find him "rucking" (stamping), clearing a ruck with a swinging arm, making a high tackle, tackling someone in the air.

If you've made up your mind on Parisse based on 3 incidents over the course of his 77 cap international career, and however many appearances in domestic and European rugby, than that simply adds weight to your posts, whether they are to be read or to be ignored.

Its why I hate seeing youtube videos posted as "evidence" of a player being x/y/z.

i agree about you tube clips for highlighting players attributes etc.they can be selectively edited to only show great tries, great tackles etc and not show missed tackles knock ons and poor decisions.

however in a clip showing violence, which somebody studied and decided warranted an 8 week ban the youtube clip is fine.it is the icident itself in isolation.if this was his only offence in 100 caps id still call him dirty.you can go to the gym, take all the creatine and protein you want ,but you cant build up your eyes.if he threw a box,a kick or even a head butt id be inclined to forgive him but poking your fingers in someones eyes is ridiculous.if someone did it to me outside a nightclub or even in a rugby match id have them up in court.

dupuy's was also disgraceful.he had more then one go at the chap and went back for more. attoub i cant comment on as he was done on a still photo and that can be quite ambiguous.

yeah i suppose jennings is too-cant remembr which match it was.
    quinlan the same.

anyway doesnt matter-neither of us are right or wrong.its subjective.based on the clip above i think im within my rights to call him filthy.could have blinded the man-in my opinion.im not an opthalmist.

your well within your rights to call it handbags.

but its disingenuous of anyone to say it didnt happen

i dont like being labelled as biased either by an earlier poster.i started a thread calling for mealamu to be banned for head butting moody in the autumn tests

i think he could be better at 8 then heaslip, but wouldnt want to drop heaslip either.2 great players at the moment

  • I sure as **** am not saying its handbags. Its a terrible moment of madness and one he definitely regrets. He took his time and his ban for it, and got on with it.

I suppose there's a humanity aspect to it that you're just missing, do you think that someone can never right a wrong? Someone makes a bad tackle aged 18 in a schools' game, and they're forever labelled a dangerous player? Had Hayes been sent off aged 22 and not in his mid/late 30s would he have been a "filthy player"? Should a record be permanent and a blot never be removed? Yes this is philosophy and not rugby, but I just think your attitude is way way off here.

People don't get "one chance" to do something. Sexton is not a "bad kicker" because he missed a ridiculously easy penalty against Wales. Parisse is not a "filthy player" because he did a borderline insane thing by messing around with someone else's face. Saying someone is a "filthy player" is a pretty outrageous comment tbh, and something that should be backed up. I got in trouble on here before for calling a player's stamp "filthy", it has serious negative connotations and some people, myself included would definitely have cause to respond completely against it.

Ignore the handbags of the other poster btw, pretty embarrassing stuff, there's an ignore list there for a reason.

yeah i agree, maybe my outlook is poor.maybe my opinion is too draconian.and i apologise if my choice of words was aggresive or inflammatory.when i saw parisse's name mentioned a lot in the opening pages(im clearly in the minority) i felt the need to throw my hat in the ring.people were saying he was the best of the 6 nations generation and best 8 in the world etc and would walk in to all teams the allblacks included.in my opinion thats hyperbole abuse.he is a clearly multi faceted outstading rugby player playing in one of the worlds weaker teams.
the first thing that came in to my head was dirty.ive always perceived him that way. similarly mike philips and dylan hartley would come to mind.always looking for niggle.

funny you should mention the "record being permanent" and blot never being removed. i think you have inadvertently highlighted one of the flaws in the citing system. they do take your past record in to account.
bakkies botha missed the whole tri-nations (9 weeks )for a head butt on jimmy cowan. mealamu only got a fortnight for a worse one.

both headbutts should be treated equally.

if i gouge a player in cap 1 or cap 100 - they are both gouges.you cant be a little bit pregnant!!!

anyway for what its worth i think o brien, warburton and when he played chris paterson were stand out players. based on what i seen.

  • if i gouge a player in cap 1 or cap 100 - they are both gouges.you cant be a little bit pregnant!!!

Excellent comparison, prepare to be demolished.
A person who has unprotected sex 100 times and gets pregnant - Bakkies Botha
A person who drunkenly forgets protection 3 in 100 times and gets pregnant - Sergio Parisse.

    Who is more "responsible"?

you cant be a little bit pregnant is a martin brundle phrase from formula 1. it means its either black or white.your either pregnant or your not.a gouge is a gouge is what i meant.whether a guy attacks the eyes of a player on his debut or on his 100 cap he still attacked his eyes.

zidane head butted a guy on his last game for france but the records will show he still headbutted a guy.

and in answer to above.if parisse and botha both gouge then they are both the same.

Ah very good, I didn't know that. He is deserving of his ban so.
