Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I'm trying to strip the services in XP down to the bare bones for gaming, I was just wondering, does this turn off all the services in the other user accounts?

No problem. Make sure you record what services you've changed so that if something stops working you can quickly go back and make a change. It can drive you mad if you forget what services change and your wifi stops working or something else. Do screen grabs to record changes you make.

I'm not that patient to be taking screen grabs lol.

At least write what you've changed down in notebook or something, my wireless started acting funny - exactly what cookie said, so I went to the list I had written and restarted one by one until it started working again.

The reason I'm asking about how this affects other users is that I want to have a clean Admin account in case anything goes wrong. Is this really impossible? There's absolutely no way to have a separate services profile?

I know what you mean. And it always happens when you're in a rush so you re enable everything. AAaggghhh.

Re the clean admin account I dont think this is possible. But i stand to be corrected.

Actually it might be. I dont have multiple accounts on my system but in the service tab you're editing under Log On. Can you select which user the service opens if with what ever setting you choose?

Services are system wide, so are independent of the logged on user.

You could create a .bat file to stop the services under your gamer login, and either execute it manually, or put it in the startup group of the gamer profile.

The bat file would contain a series of NET STOP commands, e.g.:

    NET STOP "PRINT SPOOLER"

You could also create a corresponding BAT file to restart the services after you finished playing your games.
