Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am I missing something or are the new info ad about saorview misleading.
Everything Ive heard says you need an aerial and a set top box at €89 approx.
Now obviously the aerial is a requirement (although some people already have this aerial but the ads make no mention of the fact that if you were to buy a new tv that is suitable, you will not need this set top box. I feel this is a scandal. Many people daily are walking into shops and buying tvs that are out of date without knowing this.

Yup, the as yet unreleased 2011 range from Sony and Samsung will be certified.

Walker of course have Saorview certified TV's as well.

Does anyone know if LG, Philips or Panasonic have sets in for certification?

Some Walker, Samsung and Sony TVs
Also some perfectly working TVs not Certified (eg LG 42LD450)

The "Freeview HD" boxes are quite compatible but not absolutely 100%. Under £45 in UK High street. Main issue is channel numberings and no EBU teletext (which may end in 2003 leaving only MHEG5 text, which does work).

Even the info on RTE website is slightly misleading, even the comments show how the public generally have a lack of any basic knowledge of what's on offer-it's like reading the comments section on a Daily Mail article.

My point was that many people are walking in buying tvs which 100% wont work without additional box whereas there are many tvs on the market right now which will work although may nt be certified but the sales people will flog the old stuff to unknowing customers. Why dont RTE expalin that you need a set top box or a certified tv? At least that way people would go looking for certified tv and perhaps get something that will work direct.

Hi byte, the LG 7700 TV(now discontinued, but available cheaply on websites) has not got the Saiorview logo but is receiving all services from 3 rock.
when the Saorview EPG was testing, could get choice of the TV's epg and Saorviews.
If anyone looking for a cheap way to Saorview+Freesat+nonfreesat FTA,it is hard to beat for price.

Saorview coming in perfectly on indoor 'rabbit ears'.

    LCD display 499 GBP
    LED display 549 GBP

LED model is a great picture

FYI Sprucefield is a 30 minute drive north of Newry
