Branded Venues. Whats The Point?

You work in an office. Across from you, at another desk, is a man named Bob. Bob quits and is replaced by John. John sits in the same place as Bob. He does the same job as Bob, (but better). So you insist on calling him Bob.

Do you see what I'm getting at? The Point is gone. It wasn't rebuilt. It was replaced.

The desk is still there at the exact same location. We don't rename it to a table or sell its naming rights to Bob!

Who's talking about the desk? We're talking about John. He's replaced Bob, but you want to call him Bob instead of his actual name. He's not Bob, he's John.

But you're completely missing the point. One thing has been replaced with another. It's a different entity. It has a different name.

If they replaced the desk with a table, would you call still call it a desk? The O2 is a different building to the Point Theatre. The Point is gone.

If the desk was replaced with a table, they have not moved and are still at the exact same location in the building. The Point as well as being the 'nickname' of the previous theatre is also the name of the area we are talking about(Luas and Point Village) proves this, it ain't an O2 area.

A table but in this case the desk was not replaced, humans were replaced. the desk didn't move anywhere just like The Point didn't move anywhere.
