SSU - System Software Updates, Saorview's planned data/engineering stream for approved receiver OTA updates supplied by the manufacturers.

Freeview has a similar engineering stream - http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php

It's been testing on Mux2 since early last year, I wonder if the move to Mux1 means Mux2 is still far away?

Yes mux 2 seems to be taking forever to launch which i think we all knew it would. There doesn't seem to be any interested parties taking up the opportunity to launch on mux 2. I suppose until the carriage fee issue is sorted out and nobody seems to know when this will happen it looks like a long wait lies ahead for us wanting new content on Saorview. :(

Yes, SSU is on Mux 1, E47 CH.
Yesterday there was no MHEG-5 digital text and no RTE-player but they are working today.
I wonder did RTENL did turned off the MHEG-5 digital text while they were doing test on SSU for software update on some STB?

Must watch out for complaints about interference to Divis Freeview reception.

I get my UK terrestrial channels from Divis, today I had no signal on them, it has just come back. I have lost the channel Dave and Sky news completely. Do you think this is why?

Mt. Leinster won't be responsible for taking out all the Divis multiplexes. Any trouble it does cause will be in areas where Divis reception is marginal to begin with.

Mount Leinster still running so probably not to blame.
Some loss of welsh channels and reception of different welsh transmitters here in Wexford today.

Dave & Sky News are on channel 26 from Divis. I suspect Woodie40's signal is just on the edge of the 'digital cliff' at the best of times.

Current atmospheric conditions in the SE could be up for causing a bit of bother. Only 1 Welsh transmitter (Preseli) any use in Wexford afaia.

Can anyone identify what parameters are being used on Test Service 4 (LCN 14)?

The reason I ask is my 5 years old Sony KDL-26V4500 is not displaying any video, only audio. This happened last week for all Saorview channels on this TV. The video eventually appears about 2 mins later and is jittery.

Similar is happening on a 2010 Sony, video appears after about 10 sec and is jittery also.

Another TV, a Lidl Silvercrest, purchased about 2 years ago has no problems. Video appears almost straight away and is stable.

    Are RTÉNL testing something new?

Just checked my Panasonic now and I'm getting a jittery picture on Test 4 also, although video and audio displays immediately. All other Test channels are rock solid.

MUX 2 from Maghera channel 55 is now fired up. On test service 4 it has the usual Philips test card but on the top it says 2 r n instead of RTENL. I wonder does that mean anything as i've never seen it before.
