    Hi there,

I'm having a clear-out and have a lot of old books I could sell. Only problem is I know nothing about antique books, or what classes them as antique or even what to price them as.

I will be selling them online as opposed to at a market etc.

Here is an example- "The Angler's Guide to the Irish Free State" from the Dept of Agriculture Fisheries Branch, Dublin.
    Third Edition, Dated 1937.
    Hardback.
    265 pages.
Good condition although the spine is kind of flapping off (still attached though).

Inside the front cover and between chapters are old-school advertisements from Irish angling specialists and other relevant businesses and associations.

    Contents include:
-Choices of district (info on which waters were free to fish in, etc)
-Angling centres (including detailied info on what fish is in which waters)
    -Books on angling in Ireland
    -Records of notable Irish fish
    -Notes on maps
-Cross Channel routes to the Irish free state
    -shipping facilities for motor cars
    -customs regs
-use of firearms in the IFS
-List of Rivers and lakes with their open seasons
    -Index

ALSO, the book contains old fold out maps ranging from size from just over A4 size to well... bloody massive! :)
Maps include the Kerry area, Galway area, Donegal Area, Index map and River and their catchment basins (Map of Eire).

Any idea what this book is worth? Or if it is even worth anything? I thought it might be as it's dated on the last year of the "Irish Free State" before it became "Ireland".

I also have other books eg Dickens' David Copperfield Volume 1 & 2 dated 1890. Hardbacks, good cond. Any thoughts?

    Thanks very much guys.

    Hi there,

not sure about these particular books but if you are based in Galway pop into Des Kenny at Kenny's Bookshop. They have a great experience in antique books: http://www.bookshop.kennys.ie/

Or if you are based in Dublin have a look at Carraigh Books in Blackrock. The owner there is also very experienced in antique books: http://www.carraigbooks.com/

abebooks.com is another great source - i've bought some from them in the past - you should be able to get some idea of price if you enter the details of a book
