Thanks for that Ormond, yes I was surprised they beat Munsters by that score, Highfield are well coached, handy pack and a good back line but I think they may have the "All Ireland champions" in their head, so a bit of psychology needed if they hope to compete.
If they have the "all ireland champions" set in their head, use some of this as psychology for the game tell your nephew to tell his team mates that highfield were all ireland champs at u18 level only 3 years ago(they beat us in munster final:() and that they are as good as that side. Waterpark are doing well at the moment but people are getting hung up on how good they are, for all the munster titles theyve won underage over the years theyve still only won one all ireland title and they let their senior side fall down the grades(though they are building it back up again)

    Best of luck,

Have a young nephew playing for Highfield against Waterpark next Saturday at U 17, he tells me Waterpark are the current All Ireland Champions, I presume some of the team that won it are now u 19, equally I presume Waterpark will be VERY GOOD
abbeyfeale gave waterpark a bit of a fright last sat,nil all at half time and probably should have been leading having hit the post and being impeded for a certain try, they are not as dominant as previous years,YM are poor this year, highfield and bruff are strong this year as well A/Feale

Good points, should be a cracker, isn't it great that a group of young men from different counties, and backgrounds will come together, play hard, and shake hands at the end and none of the crap that goes with a lot of what young lads get involved in. Heres to sport in all its many forms :D

yep/// abbey lads are all local and have been playing together since they were 7/8 yrs...pan/munster was a great innovation and should get the publicity it deserves

What clubs have the biggest amount of underage players? I'd say Waterpark would be up their. I heard last year that Galwegians have hundreds of kids playing too.

Pan Munster starts at 19s this weekend and continues at 17s.
Some very good match ups this week at both age groups including at 19s the clash between North u19 League champions Shannon-St Marys and East League Runners up Nenagh in Limerick sunday at 12 in Coonagh and defending champions Waterpark at home to Castleisland in Ballinakil at 1
At 17s the games that stand out to me are Thomond v Tralee in Liam Fitzgerald Park at half 1 on Sunday, Highfield v Waterpark in Cork on Saturday at half 1 and Dungarvan v Clonakilty in Dungarvan Sunday at half 12

I'm reffing the Dungarvan game. Should be decent.

Seen this on connachts website. good idea that could be replicated elsewhere.
In Munster they should be looking for Avonmore to be doing more marketing and advertising of the youths leagues in conjunction with the branch and its website. Its a real pity there hasnt been much mentioned of the league on munsterrugby

They are, our lot are hamstrung by many peoples conservatism and adversity to any form of change even if the change is for the good.

Just back from the Highfileld Waterpark Under 17 game Highfield won 42 - 3
Highfield pack was excellent as was their backline. Waterpark had a lot of the ball but Highfield tackled like their lives depended on it.
Waterpark tried hard but got no room from the Highfield defence. A very good win

Big win for Highfield! It sounds like they'll take a bit of beating.

was at the shannon/nenagh game, nenagh were a very big side, but shannon could have put 50 points on them with a bit of effort

Today they could have but Nenagh were missing 4 or 5 usual starters and with a few weeks of good work if they have to play each other again the result will differ greatly from today

The Munster website has Dungarvan losing 5 - 35 to Clonakilty. Strange considering I reffed it and submitted the score.

The group stage of the u17s pan munster end this weekend with 1/4 final spots to play for in all 4 groups.
In group 1 Highfield after 2 big wins, against Young Munster and reigning champions Waterpark, play Abbeyfeale in Abbeyfeale and should wrap up 1st place in the group.
Waterpark play the cookies in Ballinakill and should continue on through to the knockout stages as they try complete a 3 in a row at the age group.
Both games are on tomorrow around midday

In group 2 Clonakilty lead the way after 2 big wins in the opening rounds against Killarney and Dungarvan and could seal 1st place and a home 1/4 final after their trip to Bruff on sunday. The Killarney Bruff game wasnt played last week but Bruffs big win over Dungarvan in round 1 suggests sundays game should be a good game.

In group 3 Kanturk are in 1st and should remain there after their game against Listowel tomorrow. Ennis host Clonmel on sunday and the winner will qualify for the knockout stages if Kanturk win tomorrow

In group 4, things are very tight and any 2 of Tralee, Sundays Well and Thomond can qualify for the 1/4s. Tralee drew their opening 2 games against the Well and Thomond and a win against Thurles will get them into the quarter finals

You had me in a panic there for a second. I read it that Highfield were playing Young Munster and Waterpark v Abbeyfeale. I'll have the score of the Waterpark game posted when I finish reffing it.

In group A Bandon host reigning champs Waterpark in a game that should decide who wins the group. St Senans play Castleisland.

In group B Nenagh play Kanturk tonight while Young Munster host Shannon-St Marys sunday morning in Derryknockane with the game kicking off at midday.

In group C Clonmel host Cobh tomorrow at 1pm and Garryowen host Crosshaven in Dooradoyle sunday at 12.30pm. The Garryowen Crosshaven game should decide the winner of the group after both had good wins in round 1

In group D Bruff host Tralee on sunday in killballyowen park kicking off at 12pm while on Saturday Highfield host Cashel-Thurles at 12.15pm. Wins for both Highfield and Bruff will qualify them both for the knockout stages ahead of their game against each other in round 3

Kanturk beat Nenagh in the 19s tonight 10-7. Nenagh had all the possession but couldnt score and had a couple of definate scores ruled out. Kanturk are now into the 1/4s and if Shannon-St Marys beat Munsters tomorrow they will join kanturk in the last 8

Waterpark beat Young Munster 36-10. Game was ok until the second half when YM started to lose discipline. 2 players binned due to lack of discipline.

The under 17 Leinster champions and All Ireland runners up of the last two years meet in the penultimate round of this years Under 19 premier league, in Tullow next Saturday 04/02/12 @ 12.00.noon,  after Goreys good away win in Naas and Enniscorthy's home win against Navan in the quarter finals. Enniscorthy blazed the trail two years ago by winning under 17 league and then going all the way to the All Ireland final to lose out to Munster champions , Gorey emulated this feat last year only to be denied by the Connacht champions in the All Ireland final. The appearance of these two sides in Leinster semi final shows the strength of under age rugby in Wexford with both sides having the hunger to finish off what narrowly escaped them at under 17 level. The winner of this Wexford derby will meet the winner of Roscrea/Birr Rebels and Boyne in other semi final. High noon in Tullow will no doubt provide a close tense final between two closely matched teams both of whom will have their sights set on further glory.
