Waterpark on for the double, hopefully their bad streak against Bruff over the last couple years can come to an end. Shall try make it to Limerick on Paddy's day. Our Under 18s in particular are supposed to be very strong.

Great to see how well run the Plate and Bowl competitions seem to be going, that could've been a bit of mess but most fixtures seem to have gone ahead and a big day now for some clubs who wouldn't otherwise be involved

Was at Thomond Park today, two fantastic games, particularly the 18s game, 7 tries in the 2nd half. Shall give a full report tomorrow

Too fantastic games yesterday. Hopefully Munster produce as comprehensive a highlights package as they did last year, there were 2 or 3 camera's there so I'd imagine there will be.

Don't get to see too many Youths games these days but the 18s final was surely as good as it gets. Bruff dominated the first half with a fairly bruising forwards display- every maul gained serious ground, 'Park forwards were getting swallowed up around the fringes with choke tackles. Bruff had a very good ten who pinned the corners well and a massive 12 who made huge amounts of ground and had good hands when looking for offloads.

However Waterparks back line was a class apart. Alex Molloy looks the real deal and seems to be highly rated in the Munster ranks, made more breaks than I could count. Regularly drifted to form a second wave of attack with Nick O'Donoghue (very tidy player himself) standing in at out half. Once Molloy got into space Bruff's defence was under serious pressure.

The forward pressure told in the first half with Bruff leading 13-3. 3 super second half replacements turned the game for Waterpark, the scrum solidified and the back line was unleashed scoring two quick tries. Bruff then got a try back before Molloy landed a drop goal and Waterpark added another try. Some of the handling on display was immense, from both sides it must be said.

Bruff scored with the last play of the game but Waterpark had a healthy lead at that point.

The 16s encounter was almost as entertaining. Both sides exhibited really good handling skills and great defense. Very little between the sides but Waterpark had a touch more class in the midfield which was probably the difference between the two sides.

Very enjoyable day of rugby and would encourage anyone even mildly interested to head along next year - it really is a fantastic advertisement for Youths rugby

Shame to see so few club players getting international representation in comparison to before. It was great boost to development of the sport to have 26 players+ year in year out getting international recognition especially when you saw players from clubs that don't traditionally dominate age grade club rugby....
Clontarf u17's defeated Blackrock u17's in league final replay last night.
Schools/youths league I assume and not the main under 17 league in Leinster...with no teams like Skerries, Navan etc competing.

fewer club players getting representation was always going to happen once Nucifora changed it.

They leagues or cups? Munster leagues finished while back at oldest age groups. Some regional leagues being played off now as well as cups

Corinthians running under 16 all Ireland cup this weekend. think 16 teams invited. They ran the same last year at 15s level but no ulster sides involved. don't know who's playing though.

Not long left now to see what the make up of the 'development' teams will be like. It'll be interesting to see what age profile they tend to go for.

Might vary quite a bit between provinces. Cant see Leinster having too many over 20/21 but Connacht may have more...

I was thinking about this, where are all these very good players Munster had in club and school competitions in the last few years?

I know the likes of Rory Parta have moved on. But I speak of Greg O'Shea Aiden Slattery and the likes

Or that bandon u19 team with Mighty okafor and likes of Kerry Desmond

    Where are all these players?

The Bandon 19s team most are playing with Bandons j1 side. If any were to progress theyd have left and would have played elsewhere but they have stayed in Bandon and brought the club from being a mid ranking junior division 2 club to a club that in just 2 seasons in division 1 finished 2nd and were narrowly away from competing in the round robin to go senior.
Greg O Shea has been in the academy and is repeating the third year of that having been injured for most of last season

When you saw the likes? Who are you referring to?

Okafor is in college in Athlone IT and on a rugby scholarship there. Helped them win all Ireland colleges title for 15/16

Athlone? That's good for him. I can't imagine him still being with bandon from Athlone? Has he played any provincial rugby yet?

What about Walsh ? The bandon scrum half of recent years. Where is he now?

Look on the Bandon RFC website. You can see match reports from some of their games last season and if you look at teams you will see a lot of players who won that under 19 all Ireland a few years ago.
I think Walsh is still playing with Bandon. Okafor could still be playing with Bandon I don't know. He may be in Athlone but that wouldn't stop him playing with Bandon
