    Same for UR
In some ways i disagree with this as these guys have another year and it takes away a place(s) from guys in their final year of 19s and dont have another shot at interpro rugby though see why its being done

Yes, I know what you mean. X trains all summer long for u19 and then doesn't make squad as u18 drafted in week before interpros. Harsh.

There is Zero sentiment in the selection process - They won't give a guy an interpro cap just because he's in his final year..

They will very coldly look at each guy and ask the simple question - Can he be a Pro player , if the answer is anything other than yes , then he gets moved on , simple as that.

It's not like the old days where getting the run-on start was the goal , the goal is a snr pro contract nothing else matters

I know that full well but under 18s whove already played 3 interpros shouldnt be playing 19s ahead of 19s who wont play any games at all as a result. This makes pool smaller which isnt a good thing. Yes the coaches will look at ability and potential (and its not simply to be a pro) but there needs to be more than that.

Interesting article on schools/age grade rugby in New Zealand https://www.collegesportmedia.co.nz/rugby-union/rugby-in-new-zealand-becoming-private-school-game

Connacht leagues are up and running. Still waiting in Munster for under 16 and 18 competitions to be finalised. Clubs just playing friendlies at the moment.
Under 13-15 leagues in other regions have started.

    U18 – South-East 24 North Midlands 12

The rain had eased by the time the U18 tie between the South-East and North Midlands kicked off, allowing for a more free-flowing game.

The South-East got the scoring underway through right wing Jack Hanlon, with Tim Corkery kicking the conversion.

Corkery was called into action again after blindside flanker Mark Boyle went over to extend the South-East’s lead.

The North Midlands struck before half-time to reduce the arrears to nine. Patrick Corrigan scored his side’s first points of the game, though the conversion was off target.

North Midlands piled on the pressure in the second period but the South-East defence stood firm, forcing errors from their opponents.

A break from centre Josh O’Connor saw him score from his own 22. O’Connor dodged tacklers on his way to the line, scoring in the left corner and extending the South-East’s advantage.

Another South-East try with five minutes to go from replacement Barry Gray secured the bonus point. The North Midlands had the final say when Jamie Osbourne scored and converted a try right at the end.

    Shane Horgan Cup (U16) – South-East 14 North Midlands 14

The South-East and North Midlands finished their Shane Horgan Cup contest all-square in some tough conditions at Cill Dara RFC on Monday evening.

With rain falling throughout, it was almost half-time when the first try was scored. Left-wing Stefen San Agustin crossed the whitewash for the South-East, with Shane Walker kicking the conversion.

The North Midlands struck first in the second period through centre Culann Carbery, with Aaron O’Donohoe knocking over the conversion to level matters.

The back and forth continued when lock Max Richards scored his side’s second try to restore the South-East’s lead – Walker again converting.

It looked as though the South-East would hold on for the win but North Midlands full-back Andrew Osbourne had other ideas. He made a burst for the line to the right of the posts. O’Donohoe held his nerve to kick the extras and ensure the points were shared.

Is there a list of names for the u18 Irish Schools training camp?

Wont be any full list. Might see some names by clubs and schools for both squads.
Still is ridiculous the "A" team is the Irish "schools" team. Should simply be Ireland A/B not schools/clubs and schools

6 from Corinthians in the squads for upcoming training camp
    Ireland u18s Clubs and Schools

    u18 Clubs won 31-12

Great to see an Ennis lad get a cap.

Can someone explain the difference between the Clubs and Schools teams? Why not just pick the best XV? Would the Schools be considered stronger than the Clubs?

Schools side is for players in non exempt schools by and large (They are Munchins, CBC, PBC, Rockwell etc in Munster, Blackrock, Michaels, Clongowes, Kilkenny etc in Leinster and Methody, RBAI, Royal Armagh etc in Ulster).
Clubs side is for players that are not in those schools.
However nowadays the sides are combined for the April internationals but the main side is called "schools" side while 2nd side is the "clubs and schools" team.

He’s only u17 so would be very impressive if he did, have heard he’s a big prospect.

I had a bit of a falling out with the club in Ennis years ago (nearly 20 years ago) so I haven't been keeping too close an eye on them but I was speaking with someone that's coaching under age there and he was saying he's a great prospect, under 16 last year, the 10 is an even better prospect, there's a great chance both will get academy contracts with Munster but they are just in 4th year now so loads of time.
