Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Haha, funny you guys should mention weddings. I was down in Cork at my cousins wedding in 2009, the night Gilly was running in the 400m final at teh World Championships. He was due on at a certain time, so 10 minutes before than time, not only did I get up and walk out of the dining area, but took 4-5 of my cousins with me. As it turns out there was a huge delay in the programme and the 400m final wasnt on for another 30 minutes. Rather than go back we stayed in the bar and watched Allyson Felix smoke the field in the 200m final. Eventually after 45 minutes away from the table, we got back just in time for the speaches. Don't think many even realised we were gone.

Gillick takes priority ahead of the speaches. Always!

Good idea, I never thought of looking for a TV at the thing to watch it. I had thought about recording it and trying to avoid any news or results until I got to watch it back.

Absolutely. Trust me, the Bride and Groom won't have a notion you've disappeared to watch U.Bolt, and even if they did, they wouldn't give a toss, they'd be too in love to give a sh1t (or so you would hope!).

My cousin pissed off at a wedding years ago to go get some McDonalds. Very few people realised he was gone. There's so many at a Wedding, you will just be a needle in a haystack!

Trust me, The Bride misses nothing.

Hence I would like to dispel this myth from the get-go.

Along with (moaning) pregnant women, brides are the most annoying things. (If you currently own one of these "things", I take it all back )

My sister got married last summer, the venue had no TVs. Nada. Use the money you'd spend on the day, on another day in London. Don't forgot to show us the photos!

Tempting alright, but I'm hoping to go from the Wednesday through to the Saturday when the 5000m is on (if I get any more tickets that is). Going over the weekend before would just add to the expense.

I might possibly stay for the marathon on the Sunday but as someone else said, I don't know how good of a spectator event it would be. Although if Haile get's picked, I would love to see him run, ditto for Geoffrey Mutai.

Was thinking you could add another day (either side of the Wednesday) if you didn't get any more tickets to enjoy the festivities/free events. Thou I think I said that months ago!!

Yeah, will see how it goes. In an ideal world I'd get a ticket for the Thursday and the Saturday. A couple of guys I know are going on the Thursday so while I wouldn't get to sit with them, I'd at least be able to hang about with them before and after the event if I wanted to.

Not sure about trying to get Friday tickets, although there's a few nice events on that night too.

Will see how it goes anyway, I might not be entitled to buy during this 24 hour window anyway!

I'd be pretty happy to watch it anywhere in the stadium with the other 79,999. If you're not on 'The Honours List', then neither am I!

Did you get tickets to any event (not just athletics) through either the ballot or the 2nd sale which was first come, first served? If so, I think perhaps you might not be on that list.

I missed out in both sales.

The ticket I did get was through a Dutch resale website.

Ah ok, I must have confused you with someone else or misread a previous post. I thought you had got tickets or some other event like netball or boxing or something.

With a bit of luck we'll both be in that 20,000 list.

I wouldn't mind queueing overnight if i knew for sure i'd get them. I imagine the queue's will be insane.

I take it you have a tent, sleeping bag and flask of hot chocolate ready to grab at a moments notice so you can make the front of the queue when they announce this so you can go and buy Boardsies tickets?

As long as i have a rough idea of how many tickets are up for sale yeah i'm willing to camp out. June or July would be fine but one night max, i'm not that desperate for them!!

How painful would it be though if all the athletics tickets were gone when you got to the window

There would be a staying up all night tax put on any tickets i get for other people of course ;)

If you were to be at the front of the queue and there were reasonably priced tickets going to be available for the athletics then I'd drive over and work shifts with you to save our space in the queue. £2012 is not a reasonable price though.

Could be a plan alright. Yeah £200 max per evening session of athletics. A lot will depend on the amount of tickets each person can buy.

You can take the night shift, i'll have the day shift :p

3 days of queuing would be a good estimate. It would have to be a Ticketmaster centralized system, cos all booths would have to have access to the same tickets. Might be smaller queues (2 days!) if any outside of London. What a mess.

Blouses. I have lots of experience of doing the day and night, and the day again shifts combined. I'll sponsor you, give tips, and provide 'LIVE Boards' encouragement if you get me a ticket?

A keg* each for me and brianderunner for each night and we should make it through the ordeal.

Won't give a crap about tickets by the time they open to sell them, but will have been a fun queue in the mean time. :D

*I mean proper sized kegs full of proper beer, none of these mini larger ones you can get in the supermarket. ;)

I queued 18 hours for U2 tickets a few years ago. Most people thought I was mad, but it was actually a lot of fun. We just drank and sang U2 songs. :)

    Hi

Need some advice, did not apply for olympic tickets last year, then a few weeks ago was messing around on the official olympic website and navigated to TGH Sports website, jjust chanced my arm and sent in a request for tickets for athletics. Then a week ago got a reply back asking which events i was interested in, i said well whatever is available, didn't hear anything back until this afternoon and was then offered Athletics AT003 category A , @ £180 each. This appears to be for the 4th August.
Now please excuse my naeivety but is this legit ?, i honestly thought all athletic tickets would be like gold dust at this stage.

Any ideas what to do next ?

    Thanks :)

That's a morning session, you'd probably see a few Irish athletes but not much else worthwhile. Face value is £150 for category A.

Mens 100m: classification heats, round 1.
    Mens 400m: round 1.
    Womens 3000m Steeplechase: round 1.
    Womens Pole Vault: qualifying.
    Womens Heptathlon: long jump, javelin

Could be dodgy. There are loads of sites saying they have tickets but you couldn't be sure of them. I would say wait until the tickets are released and you might see a few on the likes of ebay then.

The only way to buy tickets was with a Visa card. The only way to buy stuff at the Olympics is with a Visa card or cash. Just ask to see a card with the same surname on it.

Will they really be checking 80,000 credit cards each evening! The queues to get in will be a tad slow :)

Presumably/clearly, Londoners/voters won't be able to concentrate on electoral candidates/issues whilst simulanteously concentrating on tickets for women's beach volleyball?

Thou, London2012 organisers aren't the only ones making a hames of it.....

For those of you who haven't seen the new series of 'Twenty Twelve', it's on BBC2 tonight at 10pm and it's hilarious! Tonight's is the 2nd part of last week's dilemma.............you can get part one on the BBC iPlayer, can't seem to find another way?

"Comedy following the 2012 Olympics delivery team. The Algerians issue a deadline of midnight to their demand for the toilets, in a Shared Belief Centre, to face Mecca; While France also threaten boycott, if the British rebuild it, so that the toilets do face Mecca". (30 minutes)

Entering http://www.aristeiasport.com/en/ into the London2012 'ticketing website checker' gives the answer below. So can we purchase with an Irish address? http://www.london2012.com/about-this-website/ticketing-website-checker.php

Aristeia is an Authorised Olympic Ticket Reseller for the following countries only: Angola, Malaysia, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Morocco, Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Spain, Ivory Coast and Comoros.
The official ticketing site for residents of the UK and designated European countries is www.tickets.london2012.com

Individuals from outside the UK and designated European countries should see our list of official suppliers

    ***************************************************************************************************************

Any idea re booking/handling fees? Can't find it on the site. London2012 is £12. What does the * mean after the price
Price wise, seem comparable to London2012 site?? Checked a few.

Credit or debit cards: You can use credit cards to buy tickets and also to guarantee your ticket list when selling. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Maestro, Solo, Switch and Electron. You can not use credit cards or debit cards for payment.

Somebody explain? So you can only use a credit card to reserve a booking. Then you have to pay by some other means? I dont want to have to pay through bank transfer and get IBAN codes and all that sh1t.

Well that was another big letdown. Had all my details entered the other day and had the website open in work all day, not knowing what time they would go on sale Spanish time. Around 4pm Oz time onwards I checked every 15 minutes or so. I probably snoozed a bit and checked at 6.03pm (9.03am Irish time), about 4 minutes after I had previously checked, and everything was gone except for crazy expensive packages. Annoyed that I didn't check at 6pm on the button but there must have been only a few athletics tickets available. Another cod!

The packages are a rip off. 880 per person. You have to buy them in pairs, and the extras were about 320 euro. So almost 2k for 2 people for 2 nights of althletics. No way can I afford that.

Getting very fed up of this now.

I was logged in about an hour ago and nothing was on sale. Forgot about it until I got an email a few minutes ago saying they were on sale. My session timed out and now I'm getting an error when I try to login. Although from what I could see, they only sold tickets in batches of 2 which isn't much use to me anyway.

I registered with them also, thought it said a mail would be sent when selling started.

You might pick up something in London.

Meanwhile, I've entered about 4 Olympic competitions the last month, and while doing so randomly entered another few and won 2 :D. All sports tics

Thats the least of our worries. You can always sell and unwanted ticket, or give it to a friend/relative.

I'm pissed off now with myself. Maybe if I had kept trying over and over again there may have been a small chance I could have got lucky. I cant imagine there were many tickets for athletics though. The odds were stacked against us.

You don't need that, there's a perfect english version of the site available. Just click on Espanyol at the top of the page and choose english from the drop-down.
